Default Your PC Speaker setup!

I'd like to hear about the speakers you are using for your PC.

I finally upgraded to some dedicated active monitors after years of listening to a variety of PC Speaker steups from Logitech, H-K and Altec. The difference in sound quality has been revelatory, although a lot of that can be attributed to the dedicated soundcard I installed as well, along with good quality cables.

The speakers I bought are Behringer Truth B1030A's and I'm really pleased with them.

My PC is in the same room with my HT so I just HDMI out to my HT system. I do have one remaining Harmon Kardon speaker and sub connected to my PC if I just want to watch a quick video or something though. Was a nice speaker set in it's day. My cat kept knocking one off the desk... hence only having one left now

. Oh well I need to get my a** in gear and take some pics of it and my HT setup, but I'm extremely bad with pics as I have a condition that calls for meds and they give me the shakes. I'll clean up and get my daughter to take the pics

Edit: John I just noticed that your monitors blend in so well with your pc monitor, down to the yellow of your woofers and Ferrari logo, very cool buddy

Lousy iphone pic of the setup.

LG 42" LCD
Alienware 14x laptop
Behringer Ucontrol UCA202
Rokit's on mopads
Naga mouse
Logitech keyboard

I really like these speakers so far. What I perceive as very accurate, clear and precise. I'm using the "electronic" EQ setting in Itunes which give it's a bit of a bass boost as well as in the upper mid-range.

Living it up here in the mountains of Afghanistan.

My home system consist of a custom built PC // Yamaha V663 AVR // Behringer P2030P// Sherwood 8" sub (Dr. Hsu design).

Looks like we have the same KRK RP 5 G2 speakers. I'm using them with an M-Audio Fast Track external sound card. It's basically a glorified volume button

I use a MacBook Pro (late 2009) as my main computer, and there's a Mac Mini behind the Dell U2412M (awesome and very cheap) monitor that I use as a music server.

I don't own those but you will not get the same amount of bass from monitors than with a sub setup. KRK does have a sub that would make a great 2.1 setup though.

Agreed. If you've had a sub before, you'll need one with the Rokit's as well.

I can't help but think that your speakers are not giving you what they could based on the position of them in this pic. Try to space them out further and bring them more forward.

It's not possible to improve upon that at this time. I should be moving soon, and one reason for doing that is to get better space for both my computer and AV setups.

They won't blow you away with bass. They're more in the neutral or analytical vein. I like them for my computer setup; I have 'proper' speakers with more than enough bass in my hi-fi setup.

Really? I always thought they were more on the "warmer' side when compared to some other actives.

I do all of my tv watching through my pc and that in turn is connected to my secondary sound system

At the moment I'm using a pair of these, I find the Kef's handle both classical and rock music reasonably well

Connected to my amp which has enough inputs for my turntable,PC, CD player and tuner

That's a great option and one I used myself for years. Had a Sony 2Ch receiver, Totem Mites, Revolver TT hooked up to my PC and the sound was superb. I like my current setup, but the sound isn't as good as the former.

Just installed my Mission bookshelves on my H/K 330B PC setup, all I can say is wow. Right now they are just resting on my Behringers to test them out, and the Behringers are going soon. It's a major improvement in all departments. Vocals sound a little recessed, but that's mostly due to me listening to the Behringers for so long. I don't know why I waited so long

Edit: The bass seems to travel through my desk and the design of the Missions have the tweeter on the bottom. No problem at a certain distance, but in nearfield listening it shows a bit more. Any cheap ideas to raise the speakers a bit, that would also isolate the speakers from the desk?

Try some furniture felt pads, but I'd suggest more than just one layer. Or you can try the Hockey Pucks/Felt Pads combo that I use for under my TT and Speaker plinths. This will raise the speakers about an inch and a half though.
