Those are nice. How do they compare to the A2s? A fuller sound? Do you have or need a sub with those?

Thanks guys. They do sound much fuller especially at low volumes. I wanted these to start with but thought they would look out of place as this is in our main living area.

I was using a small 8" sub with the A2s but these don't really need it. That said I will be trying it out soon. The only issue I have is this sub doesn't have a high pass filter out so I have to run the A5s full range and go by ear when they start to roll off. I am looking to add something like the Paradigm X30 or Behringer external crossover in the future.

I'm an analogue guy, so I don't understand all of this digital mumbo-jumbo speak of external crossovers, but I'll take your word for it.

Ha ha. Im lost most of the time too. All this REW, DSP talk makes my head spin. Maybe I should just bring the TT upstairs, or better yet get another one.

Unless you want to move into the vinyl world a little more, that TT you have will do just fine....so keep it for now. It's actually a pretty decent table.

REW, DSP? I'm still stuck on how to connect it all...ANALOG/USB/SPDIF.. it's all gobbly-gook to me. I'm used to just connecting one component to the other...VOILA! No fuss, no muss! I turn it on and it works.

Cool. Just read your getting on with the connections on the other thread. If you got that sorted out then we can go through Foobar and sound card settings.

Foobar can be a bit tricky to set up with all its components that you manually have to add but once you get the hang of it it is a great piece of software.
Its also great that you can personalize it to your taste.

Looking forward to the GTG

Sorry for the late response and appreciate the info but I gotta stop for a bit. After getting the grados I just had to try the Littledot MKIII tube headphone amp which is apparently not a great match for low impedance SR60i's. Which means Im probably looking at a new set of cans soon which means more money. Find out tomorrow morning as Im picking it up on the way to Johns place for the GTG.

Naw - not yelling - just excited. THIS IS YELLING .

If you look on line you find a lot of buzz about a $4k piece of equipment called the q0L completion stage. It's got alot of good press from Stereophile, TAS, and from several shows. I found a free plugin that does the same thing. Bruce Brown (the Pro-Audiophile) over at Whatsbest, has compared the 2 against each other and says the free vst offers more control and is just as good as the q0l. It's just something for computer audio - I'm a fan of getting rid of as much equipment as I possibly can now.

If its 2 channel, you have a world of asynchronous USB dacs out there that will do an impressive job!
Ah yes, I should have clarified that the Encore is only a left over from the surround setup that I had. The Office is being used primarily for 2 and 2.1 (when I want to drag a subwoofer in) playback. I have been ripping my music to MP3 320 becuase the my PS3 can play that over the network. I then play that in my living room using Windows media player. File structure is a little crazy. Was thinking about getting the Schiit Modi Dac. Anybody hear that? I actually just got the Magni headphone amp.

Wow, that sounds awesome! I have seen some reviews of the q0l DAC.
