![]() ![]() I've done a search but I can't find an ultimate James Bond thread. They all seem to be focus on either the Blu-rays or some aspects of the mythos but not an all-encompassing thread that covers it all... so I started this one! I thought this would be a decent place to discuss all things Bond, without having to worry about spoilers in the thread of whichever latest Bond film is currently in cinemas. I think it's a tad unfair to ask people to post their opinions in spoiler tags for a film that's been released cinematically. *** Anyway, I've got to say I was quite hesitant about the selection of Daniel Craig as Bond when it was first announced nearly 10 years ago. I wasn't part of the mob that wanted him lynched for being blonde, but I didn't think he had "it". A part of me still thinks there's something quite un-Bond-like about him, but performance-wise (taking into account the obvious creative direction of Craig's era of Bond) I think, from what I've seen in CR, QoS, and Skyfall, he's rather good. He won me over quite quickly when I saw CR for the first time. His callous interruption of Dryden's patronising attempts at worming out of a dicey situation with the excellent line, "Considerably" was perfect. The dull thud of a silenced gunshot which sends the old man sprawling was sheer class. The theme song kicks in and I'm thinking, "Yep, this is awesome." ![]() Last edited by dgoswald; 11-06-2015 at 06:51 PM. |

Dalton Lazenby Moore Craig Brosnan [edit] Undecided about the last two though. I think GoldenEye's one of the best Bond films EVER and TND is pretty good, but TWINE and DAD veer into Moore levels of camp. Craig also got off to a great start with Casino Royale and I'm one of those weirdos who likes Quantum, it's Skyfall that lets him down so I guess I've gotta see how Spectre fares before changing anything around. If it blows then Craig will go to the bottom. Last edited by Geoff D; 11-06-2015 at 10:01 PM. |

The World Is Not Enough 24. Diamonds Are Forever Re-watched all the Bond movies last month and saw Spectre last night. So all movies are still fresh in my memory. In case of the actors i grew up watching the Roger Moore movies with my dad so he's always a special Bond for me. I think i saw The Spy Who Loved me the most times of all the movies. A movie that i think is the Best Moore movie. In the case of Lazenby, i like him a lot now. Not perfect but as he said it himself in the documentary he wasn't ready. Dalton is a bit of a misunderstood Bond. His first movie was clearly still written with Moore in mind so he had to do the best with what he got. He was able to bring a bit of himself in the movie leading to a very strange mixture in the character in The Living Daylights. Brosnan made two good/very good movies but unfortunately they written two crappy movies after Tomorrow Never Dies. Craig is just very good and Connery is the one and only James Bond being the first in this series. Same goes for Dr. No being my favorite. You can hate on it all you want but without Dr. No we wouldn't have come this far to the 24th Bond being Spectre in the longest running movie series. Last edited by BD-T; 11-06-2015 at 08:44 PM. |

Brosnan is your favourite and yet he's not even in your top 10 Bond movies. You've got Craig pretty much at the bottom and 3 of his films are in your top 10. |

Dalton Craig Brosnan Lazenby Moore Top 10 Bond Films From Russia With Love Goldfinger Casino Royale GoldenEye Dr. No Quantum of Solace The Living Daylights Licence to Kill On Her Majesty's Secret Service Diamonds Are Forever --- Despite Dalton being 2nd in the list of my favourite Bonds, his two films would slot into positions 7 and 8, with 6 being occupied by QoS. I just think he was an underrated Bond who looked and acted the part but didn't quite receive the Bond films that showcased his talents in the role. Last edited by dgoswald; 11-06-2015 at 09:16 PM. |

Approximate, some are fairly close (in particular, 1-6 could be in almost any order, 9 and 10 might reverse depending on my mood, 13-16 could be in really any order, 20-22 could be in any order, and 23 and 24 could well reverse. So thats 414720 combinations right there!)
