That's an article from 2005! Interesting in terms of the way back machine point of view. Still, it's like 4 year old news.

Today, it's possible to buy a new PC will a full featured Blu-ray burner for $1000. I'm pleasantly amazed at how many BD-R/DVD-RW combo drives I see built into so many HP desktops and notebooks for sale at Sam's Club, some offered for really cheap prices. Blu-ray is going mainstream whether anyone likes it or not. On the computer front I see BD supplanting DVD-/+RW drives within the next 12-18 months. Standalone DVD-only players will become a rare thing. One retailer is already selling a $99 BD player. DVD-only devices now have their days numbered. The transition to BD can happen quietly or with a big bang of publicity, but it is a transition that will not be stopped.

Dangerous...that'll knock you on your bottom.

OK...so my prediction was 100% correct. 3-way tie at the top. Elbow to elbow test-fest. Great race.

Now lets talk about predictions for Assen. All 3 contenders love Assen, therefore, I call for a repeat. Or possibly...1. Lorenzo, 2.Rossi, 3. Stoner. Assen flows, so bike setup aint as critical. Brakes do not matter there and its easy to make the bike long and stable. No flickability needed. Add a link of chain and a half degree () to the forks and go. It's all about the rhythm

Default Burn Notice Review

I see the review is up for Burn Notice. It's comforting to know I wasnt and that my eyes and DIY calibration must be somewhat OK.

Gotta admire them, even if they are a bit looney.

Quite correct, and that's why I lean toward your second order:

Lorenzo
Rossi
Stoner

Of course, I'd be happier with something like:

Rossi
Capirossi
Edwards

Texas Instruments sold DLP chip parts to TV manufacturers like Mitsubishi that were advertised as 1080p but really were not. Instead of 1920 X 1080 native resolution, the chips were only 960 X 1080 and used a "wobbulation" method to fake a 1080p image. I can't help but wonder if this new "4K" chip is another regurgitation of the wobbulation process, this time using a 2K chip to fake a 4K image.
True, but those wobbulation chips could still resolve single pixel on/off patterns at full 1080p, so what is the difference?

TI has since produced full 1920x1080 chips that are in use today.

Competition is always a good thing and having more than one 4K solution out there is a good thing for the industry, especially for display devices. Plus if the Sony 4K presentation I saw of Up is any indication, I hope Sony isn't the only 4K solution out there. I wasn't impressed at all. Didn't come close to the 2K DLP solution at my local D-Cinema.

I agree.
I think competition may be a good thing in this case, esp. since TI supplies the stuff for Christie, Barco and NEC, all of whom individually at this time have more projectors installed in theatres than Sony does. For example, Christie alone I think has at the minimum 4,000 projectors installed in the U.S. to about 500 (rounding off) for Sony.

For the sake of the 4k digital pipeline and home theater enthusiasts, I just hope that the current DLP competitors (Christie, Barco and NEC) don’t make a counter proposal to Regal and thusly undermine the Regal/Sony agreement effectively delaying more 4k implementation in the theaters to some vague future date.

That would indirectly inhibit the chances of more feature films being finished in 4k (be it from film or digital acquisition).
