I agree with you, from Johan’s interview, Chris H. was displaying symptoms related to a concussion immediately after the crash while he was lying in that ditch. That would indicate some degree of intra-cranial trauma…ergo, I think most medical professionals experienced in this condition would have recommended he never should have been allowed back on his bike so soon after the event. Period.

This could have been an invitation to disaster because of the possibility of the rapid progression of an occult complication related to the intra-cranial trauma manifesting itself in him losing consciousness, or even just concentration, and thusly precipitating yet another fall while riding a bicycle on a hard surface, at even modest speed and doing possibly serious permanent damage to his body. You don’t mess around with head injuries.

BOOYA
Well then, as a man with a pen, you may be interested in knowing that in Das Boot, the war correspondent character was actually modeled after Lothar Guenther Buchheim (the author of the book) based upon Lothar’s own experiences during WW II.

It was nominated for (and in some cases won) individual awards for cinematography, directing and sound mixing.

It's the Brazilian men that the world fears. The US women have been the team to beat (or close to it) for a long time now.

True! France will be a good match, for sure! Seeing as the German powerhouse was upset by Japan, and England lost to France...I really like the US team's chances!

That's my experience, as well. 3D films don't look like 3D as experienced by our eyes in real life.

Agreed! I remember earning history credit in high school for watching it. Not that it has anything to do with what a great film Das Boot is.

Did you get the opportunity to watch the match yesterday? One of the most exciting I’ve seen in a long, long time. For those who don’t follow women’s soccer, the U.S. squad played something like 55 min. or more, a player down (questionable red card) and scored the tying goal with something like one minute or less remaining in added time making it the latest scored goal in World Cup history.

They then went on to win the PK shootout with great shooting and a fabulous save by Hope.

They can’t, as it’s not a hologram, the goal is to create an illusion of 3D….

I really think the folks in the LOTR thread should consider no longer discussing or even debating the green tint in FOTR, for I’m informed vis-à-vis a link forwarded to me by a co-member of AVS and Blu-ray.com, that by implied reference, Blu-ray.com is a “more challenged site”.

I think somebody didn't have their cup of coffee this morning, as that post comes off as being a wee bit judgemental to me.

I didn't, and I don't know if I'll get a chance to watch any of this World Cup. I actually attended about half the games of the 2003 women's World Cup and that was a blast. Awesome thing to do, if you get a chance. Attending such a big portion of the men's World Cup is so prohibitively expensive/logistically difficult, but you can still make it work with the women's tournament and it gives you a perspective on the whole event that you can't get by watching as many games on tv.

But did he really mean blu-ray.com? I mean, he didn't come right out and say blu-ray.com is 'challenged'. I think we need a definitive statement from RAH before we can put this controversy to rest.

p.s. From reading some of his posts in the LotR EE thread, he obviously has fond feelings for you.

Edit: The above post has been deleted. There is no longer a record of RAH's post.

After watching that yesterday (over and over and over) I changed to an MTB ride instead of my planned road ride. That crash would have been too graphic to watch in 3D.

Grrrreat match Doc. If ESPN does a rerun, you really should consider recording it even though you now know the outcome. The drama and passion of the players and crowd still comes through.

Tell me about it. I’m just wondering about the rider behind who landed with his back full on that fence post.

If he didn’t suffer a vertebral fracture and only some rather nasty contusions and abrasions, then he is one lucky man. I think they're a lot of riders thankful that today is a rest day.
