What is the best season?

Probably the third for me but all seasons have major ups and downs. I wouldn't give any of the seasons over a 7/10.

Season 2 for many reasons, I love the build up to you know what even though many thought it took too long.

Rick being a general bad ass and his speech at the very end of the season

Its also the series I was watching when my missus got hooked on the show, she loves Walking Dead now

I've finally even managed to convince her Rick>Daryl

The current season might be the best. Season 2 also.

season 2 was my favorite-- it established most of all the main characters and made it so you cared for these people. Without that, there would have been no effect as main characters met their demise in later episodes....

Season two is the most underrated and quite possibly the best imo.

I never understood why it got so much criticism.

...a lot of people seemed to think it was disappointing.

Probably because Frank Darabont left during the second season....which leads to why season 1 is still tops.

Season 1 is easily my favorite. Compared to season 1, season 2 was waaaay slow, especially when watching it week to week. When I watched the episodes back to back on blu-ray, I enjoyed it more.

Also the beginning of the uneven tone that the show suffers from to this day..a bunch of filler (or shitty episodes, however you want to call it), stretched out plot lines and so on. I do like season 2 though, probably my second favorite.

Got to say I'm a little shocked at so many going with 2, to me that was by far the weakest season. I thought that was popular opinion as well, guess not.

Difficult to put this into a poll imo, as TWD focuses on having different narratives and storylines for its half-seasons.

For me:
- S4A was the best 8 episodes out of the whole show, with the climatic return of the Governor... which was followed (imo of course) by the worst 8 episodes the show has had.
- S5A was bending on the boring side, while S5B was fairly decent once again.
