Default Lifespan of Slipcovers on store shelves

Couldn't think of a better way to phrase my topic.
I'm relatively new to collecting Blu's with Slipcovers and hunting down Slips and I'm trying to figure out, from release day when a movie hits shelves in Blu/4K, what's the average lifespan of those Slipcovers till the dreaded Slipless copies start hitting shelves?
For example: 4 out 5 Best Buy's I visited no longer have Slips for The Lion King 4K, a bunch of Simple Favor copies on Blu are also without Slips.
It's basically the dilemma of pulling the trigger on a title, paying more and getting that slip, or waiting for a price drop but then risking no slip and having to hunt down.
How do you collector's go about it? How do you decide what to do? How long do you wait?

I generally go by what studio releases the movie. Sony slipcovers tend to disappear the quickest while Lions Gate, WB and Universal seem to last longer. Shout Factory has a three month guarantee on theirs.

Disney also tend to run short on the first batch of movies that land on retail shelves. Basically it’s a gamble. Like you say, wait it out, and you risk the chance of them disappearing. Buy it day one, your spending premium prices. 2nd hand stores are your friends. I’ve acquired quite a few htf slips and at the right prices. Once you’ve spent a good amount of time observing which studios’ slips ship in abundance and which ones you have to move fast on will help. Just like everything else. Experience helps. Feel free to look at my Slipcover collection and pm me if you have any questions.
