Does JB NZ discount their imported titles? Or are they excluded from the sale.

It includes them, at least it did last time I bought in-store imports when there was a sale. All the Criterion titles on the website are included too, and they're UK imports.

Wow, I had no idea JBNZ did Region B Criterions. I guess it makes sense, though, given NZ's restickered imports. Looking ahead to the inevitable decline of physical media in Australia, I wonder if simply importing EUR releases and restickering them with local ratings will become a viable way to keep physical media in local stores?

They've been importing UK stuff for a long time, including UHDs and some Arrow titles and a lot of cheapies from Warner and Universal among others. I scored a bunch of stuff like The Company of Wolves, Let The Right One In and Mom & Dad for about 15 each, as well as the Lethal Weapon box set with the first two films remastered which have never been released locally. Unfortunately the Arrow and 4K stuff is generally expensive, but then again mostly on par with the cost of importing and at least it's in a store instead of having to wait for weeks and risk it getting lost or destroyed by postal apes.

Stores are getting rid of physical media because nobody buys it, what would importing achieve? Who bears the OFLC cost? Why are you talking about the decline of physical media here in the future tense?

I know some of you are interested in this set. It is currently $115.xx on Amazon AU, seems to be a good price?

Beats me. I don't even know if it's JB doing this themselves or if it's the same parallel-importer that used to supply The Warehouse with OFLC-stickered UK imports. Considering these things were often being sold for peanuts means they can't have been going through the usual OFLC rort, which is interesting considering how many of them are titles without a local BD release and some that do have a local release have different extras.

It sure is, given its usual price. I took advantage of this bargain last week. It works out to be around $19 a title. And that's great, especially when four of the six flicks included are absolute classics and not easy to get hold of. This set is currently even more pricey at JB's.

Amazon.au has UHD Puss In Boots and Shrek 2 with 5% off for two making them $22.78 each. Shrek is currently $36.31 with the same deal. Seems like a reasonable price for US releases.

Thanks! Didn't even realise Puss in Boots was in 4K yet. I need to start browsing Amazon's daily deals, there are some steals in there.

It's worth going through the 'Buy 2 get 10% off' deal on UK stuff as well - often there will be something that makes it well worth it. I got the Back to the Future 4K trilogy from that for about $30.

I agree, it is worth going through those offers but it is painful as there is no way to filter out the DVDs, change the display order or just view 4K or BD.
