United Kingdom THE CHURCH - Michele Soavi (Shameless)

https://www.cult-labs.com/forums/cur...tml#post480597

Quote:
Prepare yourself for stunning visuals in the atmospheric and gasp-inducing cult horror Dario Argento's protégé and assistant Michele Soavi (the director of Shameless' CEMETERY MAN aka DELLAMORTE DELLAMORE).

The Church is coming soon! Featuring music from Keith Emerson and Goblin and starring Hugh Quarshie (Highlander, Nightbreed) as well as Barbara Cupisti (Dellamorte Dellamore, Stagefright, Opera)

Shameless will present the brand new complete, restored and remastered version from the 2k materials version in original English (as well as Italian with new English subs). This upcoming Shameless release will be the 1st Blu-ray release of the film in UK and is practically unreleased anywhere else in the world!

More details will be announced very shortly, including the brand new artwork. No release date has been confirmed just yet, but The Church is also currently planned for a spring release along with The Sect complete with an exclusive new interview with the director.

Was talking to a friend only the other week about how good it'd be if The Church and The Sect got nice blu releases and then lo and behold, both within a week of one another. Fantastic stuff.

Great that Shameless is putting these out. Especially excited for The Church. I'm sure many others also used to own (or still do) the Italian DVDs that had english audio on them?

I've never bought a shameless release before. Are they a quality label?

They are mostly known for DVD's and tacky yellow covers. As for BD's, their FOUR FLIES ON GREY VELVET might be their most valuable release.

Mostly they let other companies do the heavy lifting and then use their transfers, similar to 88 Films shtick. No doubt letting Code Red pay for the new transfer ( hopefully they'll get a 6 month window to sell before Shameless can release their BD ).

Personally, I found The Church a very dull film in most part. Hopefully someone will put out a good BD of Cemetery Man. I love, love, LOVE that film!

Wasn't there a reason why Dellamorte Dellamore came out on DVD and not Blu. I thought I read something about the existing film stock not being good enough or something.

Of course, I could have dreamed that!

Germany and Italy have released some decent blu-rays of CEMETERY MAN (or at least I think so). They are at least HD upgrades, even if they could have better transfers.

The Church is an awesome movie and since Code Red won't ship to Canada, I guess I'll be importing the Shameless version.

Caps-a-holic has comparisons of the Italian DVD (Medusa) and BD (Cecchi Gori) and the blu handily beats the DVD, even if it looks like there is scope for further improvement. No shots of Anna Falchi, though
