I got the Picard steelbook so those weren't stacked.I have the Strange New World's steelbook on pre-order so I'm hoping those won't be stacked.I get the standard releases for Discovery because I haven't liked the art for the steelbooks so I am happy to hear they aren't stacked.Like I said,I would take no slip cover but no stacked disks over a slipcover and stacked disks if I had to choose.I was sort of resolved to stacked disks with this so that lessened the disappointment of no slip.

I saw Star Trek Discovery S4 at both Best Buy and Walmart....no slipcovers. So no slipcover was produced for these at all?

Just got mine from amazon. Confirmed no slip. Also discs are the standard blue color like picard, rather than art on disc like previous discovery seasons.

Is this season any good?

Not having the slip this season just might put me over the edge on jettisoning the whole series. I love Star Trek and grew up on TNG. Star Trek has always revolved around the entire crew and the adventure of the ship. Star Trek Discovery seems to completely revolve around one character who is the solution to all problems and her continual insubordination seems to have been rewarded with captaincy. I just wish they at least made Burnham likable.

I keep going with the show because the CGI is just so cool but the story is almost always eye rolling. I’m not a purist either, I only like some episodes from TOS and also liked the new Star Trek movies.

Default Star Trek Discovery season 4 blu ray

In the description on Blu-ray.com for this item it shows slipcover in original pressing, yet every store that I have been to, there is no slipcover in any that I have seen, is this an error on the website or does this have a slipcover at all?

This website isn't 'official', it's mostly submitted by users. The image showed a slipcover, so that's why it's listed a having one. Nobody's just changed it yet I guess.

My BD copy of season 4 just arrived from Amazon and it does not have a slipcover.

It's pretty weird since the first 3 seasons have one.

My copy from Amazon did not come with a slip either. Bummer if they did not make one. Messes up my whole Star Trek Collection. Apparently the DVD has one.

I couldn't finish it to be honest. While I enjoyed the first three seasons (especially the second) and 'Picard' this was the season 'Discovery' lost me and I ended up giving up about 5 episodes in.

Different circumstances though, Umbrella Academy s2 BD was MOD and those never have slipcovers (and not sold in stores), while the DVD was a wide release, same as Star Trek Discovery.

The artwork shows it, so it seems like maybe they intended on having one and for whatever reason changed their mind, maybe the ones they had were printed with errors or something or just normal delays that meant they wouldn't have them by release date to put them on.

I'm kind of the mirror image of that -- I hated the first three seasons and loved the fourth.

If the individual seasons won’t have slipcovers, then I may as well wait for the show to be over and get the series box set once it gets cheap.

I bought every TNG season for $60 each and now the whole series is $80. But at least I got the slips and the special edition season finale/premier packs…

I’m a few episodes into season 4 and I like it better. Each episode seems to have its own mission which I like.

Lots of talking about emotions though (even the ship computer has emotions), and Burnham still seems to be the only one to solve anything. I mean they literally made her alone the cornerstone of Vulcan/Federation negotiations.

Insubordination rewarded with captaincy is a tradition going back to Kirk in Star Trek IV.

Can confirm that the UK edition has a slip-cover. Discs are not stacked.

Yes.

The shows have always focused on the captain/lead, except for maybe DS9, and those characters were almost always rebel types who went against the federation at some point. The only difference is people hate Burnam for... whatever reason, let's say.

It's similar to Rey in the new Star Wars who is attacked for being instantly good at everything, which is a "powerful jedi" thing going back to Luke and especially Anakin. Wonder what the difference is... total mystery.

They should get Cronenberg to direct an episode. He’s already on set acting anyway.

Not to the exclusion of all other characters. Almost every single interaction on the entire show is simply to serve Burnham. This show should have been called Star Trek Burnham. I haven't even seen Star Trek Picard yet and I somehow doubt Picard is as much the focus as Burnham is in Discovery although maybe he is...hence the name of the series...

She did it in almost every single episode, it was very exhausting.

Explained above pretty clearly. She is better in Season 4 than in previous seasons, or at least seems to have a personality. Perhaps her complete wooden acting was her trying to be 'Vulcan' but it was very off putting.

I happen to like The Force Awakens but the other two are terrible. The difference is the heroes journey. When a character always wins, it's boring.

It's a bit ironic that "Mary Sue" comes from Star Trek lore. I don't hate Discovery, I just wish it wasn't so focused on navel gazing.

Bad writing is bad writing. Wonder Woman (2017) was excellent, Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) was terrible.

That would be neat. His character is pretty interesting, definitely stands out. That dude is quite the character.
