I call this awesome. I would likely purchase this. Neither iteration of DS since the original (that I still have and use) were significant enough upgrades in my opinion to justify buying one. I did like the brightness upgrade and lessened weight of the DS Lites; I'll admit that. I just didn't like them $120 worth.
I wish it was backwards-compatible with original GB and GBA carts, but we have "workarounds" for that kind of thing nowadays. |

I'll think about one of these at a later time. An extra big screen for DS games could be cool.
I've had such bad luck with DSs: 1st: Platinum original, stolen 2nd: Cobal blue original, both screens scratched up, top screen falling off, lighting weakened, speakers randomly working/not working 3rd: Gray, Lite model. Broken L-button; still use it cuz it's all I have. I'm conflicted: I'd probly prefer another Lite over a DSi as I still play GBA games, but I heard I'm not the only one with L/R button trouble with the DS Lite. |

I will end up getting this but not right away like I did with the other 3 DS systems. all it is is just a bigger DSi with bigger screens that's all. to be honest I think the DSi XL is really pointless. why didn't Nintendo just make the first DSi this big? looks like the size of a portable dvd player.

Yeah, the DS should have been bigger from the beginning. Not sure why they made it so small. I guess they wanted to keep it as portable and fit-into-your-pocket as possible, and the technology at the time dictated the overall size. Looks like they might be going away from that super-small case idea a little bit now, although the thicknesses of the DS models that came after the original one are significantly reduced, so they'll probably borrow cues from those bodies.

Out of all the things, why haven't nintendo made an LED projector for their new DS? People would clamor for that and more than makes up for the lack of a TV output (well... maybe not, but still). Being able to play it on your DS screen during the day, or come over to your friends and battle each other in some big screen gaming, or even bring a portable movie. I'm not sure if I would buy it, but I bet lots of people will, especially for a nintendo product.
