One can hope. I want a more sensible packaging option if I can have it.

I wish I knew exactly what the packaging will look like. I'm not a huge digibook fan in general but this sounds a bit different with the mention of a clasp. I hope it doesn't hold the discs over-tight. I hate having to pry discs off the hub. I also hate having to remove 2 or 3 other discs to get to the one I want. The US set is basic and simple. Sometimes that's best. I don't mind nice packaging as long as disc storage safety is first and foremost.

Just re-watched The Five Doctors. Actually surprised we have not had a Blu-ray release of it yet. Would have seemed like the perfect story to release showing how well Classic Who can look on Blu.

I wonder if such releases were considered only for the relative failure and generally bad reviews and word of mouth regarding the Movie upscale to put paid to the idea? Listening to the USA fans and producing season sets is probably the best and most likely to work approach to surviving Classic Who upscaled on blu-ray.

Probably end up in a season 20 Blu-ray set.

I hope the rest of the outtakes for The Five Doctors are released.

Site review up for US release

Should be indicative of the UK release's qualities

Umm....there's no TARDIS set in Season 12 at all. When a reviewer just makes one part of the review up completely, kinda means you can't take their word for any of it.

I don't know if it was just me, but I found that so painful to read at times. Can't quite put my finger on why.

The reviewer's general ignorance, perhaps?

A tweet from Janet Fielding is increasing speculation that the next classic Blu ray season is likely to be season 19, the first Peter Davison season.

There seems to be some issues that have appeared on the US set already, especially the audio track of the first episode of The Sontaran Experiment. There are also other grumblings (possible subtitle issues, possible color issues with opening titles), but I'm not a member of GallifreyBase so I don't know what's being said over there. I'm just passing on what I've heard in the US thread for this set on this site.

I hope the UK set gets things corrected before it's released, if they are affected.

Won't help with most of these issues, if they ARE issues.

Somebody posted an audio sample comparing episode 1 and 2 of The Sontaran Experiment in the US thread:

https://vimeo.com/276382384/08b5bbfa87

You can hear episode 1 sounds echoey, like there's some kind of phasing going on. It clearly sounds different from episode 2.

Regardless of the different encode, if the episode's source audio is the same, then this issue might carry over to the UK set also. Hopefully, since the UK hasn't been released yet, hopefully they have time to correct it before release. I'm sure they're looking into it, as I'm assuming it has already been brought to their attention.

It's been changed from 'Tardis' to 'Ark' now.

The UK release may have the same audio issue as the US set. Check out the Roobarb’s DVD Forum - Doctor Who on DVD/Blu-ray sub-forum - page 81 of the season 12 Blu-ray set thread.*
