I would have gladly paid $1.00 for any of these if i had found them ever at mine..Another Stakeout,Big Business,Gross Anatomy,The Gun In Betty Lou's Handbag,Holy Matrimony plus others from this last batch that I didnt get here..I buy all kinds of movies I probably wont watch at dollar tree..but i always feel they are at least back up cases and etc..otherwise i let them go at some point no biggie..

My very short defense of DT physical media and naturally these are for my needs so ymmv (new thoughts)

DT exposes me to titles I wouldn't normally considered; thankfully they shown me:

--- Magnolia does have titles that I'm interested in

--- Non US cartoon releases - specially Shout Kids which I also mine for their cases

--- anime: for myself, trade, and it almost always well worth the $1 if your ever going to resell.

--- tri- and quad- bd cases - I don't really have a need to order a large amount from a supplier

--- a-z titles that I just haven't added before. exp: Robo Cop etc

--- I'm not in an area that there is a lot of used physical media available and used is mostly ebay etc; so a $1 for a new disc/set is Krazy!!!!!! priced.

--- Some I give as gifts, trade, or donate to the local housing for the disabled and the veteran's home

--- helps the Blu community -- trade, sell, report our experiences and are frustrations too and occasionally it results in karma

Plus in a DT thread, it would be odd to find a lot of hate and out right nope-ing.

Hey, look, another person thinking he’s cool because he’s *****ing about not having interest in participating in other people’s hobby.

If you’re a cinema fiend, these movies are great additions to collections. I’ve kept way more than I’ve gotten rid of.

I'll just add briefly:
  • I have found a number of $1 animated DVDs that keep my kids entertained during long car trips (my oldest has watched the Denver the Last Dinosaur collection from the March sale at least a dozen times since I picked it up). I've also found several $1 blurays that came with digital codes that they can stream to their tablets as well.
  • While some of the titles are direct to video movies, that's not the case with all. I had both Holiday Inn and Office Space on DVD and didn't care that much about moving to bluray for either, however, I happened to find both during this sale, so for a $2 -- why not (especially since Holiday Inn also gave me the digital version)? There are at least a couple of other instances of upgrading from a DVD to a BD due to these DT sales.

I watched a couple more of these from the recent sale:

Wish Upon -- This is a fairly predictable and formulaic "be careful what you wish for" horror/thriller with the additional teenage angst aspect thrown in. The acting in the film is actually pretty good, although Ryan Phillippe was the only person I was familiar with. The main drawback to the film is that there were a number of lulls in the story that made it feel much longer than the ~90 minute run time. With a slightly better script and perhaps a bit of editing, this could have been a solid film. Overall, I'd give it a 5.5/10.

Maps to the Stars -- This is an odd film that attempts to be an odd film. The story begins when Agatha, a former burn victim, relocates to LA from Florida after beginning an online friendship with Carrie Fisher. She hires Jerome, an aspiring actor and limo driver, to drive her around. At the same time, Havana Segrand (Juliette Moore) is a fading actress who is attempting to resurrect her career by landing a part in a movie about her mother (a former actress). Benjie Weiss is a famous child actor who has been in and out of rehab from age 9 and is an utter jackass. His father, Stafford (John Cusack) is a well-known self-help guru who is employed by a number of high-profile celebrities (including Havana Segrand). The lives of the Weiss family, Segrand, Agatha, and Jerome all eventually become interconnected.

This is sort of a hard one to score. The acting is well-done. The writing is also well-done and the plot doesn't suffer any lags. But none of the characters are likable and the conclusion is... odd. I don't see this as one I'd probably be inclined to watch again (at least not anytime soon). Overall, I'd give it a 6/10, but would be curious as to what others thought of this one.

Map to the Stars is a very interesting movie that takes a few viewing to really "get." Not saying it's a masterpiece, but it's a good film.

I can definitely see it as the type of film that folks would enjoy (and would appeal to a film studies buff). It would be hard for me to watch again (versus, say, another "deep" film like The Phenom), but I'm sure I'd get more out of it the second time.

Thanks for chiming in on it! Other movies from this round that you tended to like or dislike?

well rats! (lol) guess I'm skipping this wave -- too many preorders and new releases of animated classics - but what a great problem to have!!

so far, to the titles listed, I really am interested in the Sharknado 1-3 bd, but traditionally any titles that I really want, I won't find anyway locally.

happy hunting!!!
