What I think is happening is that the Changelings are using the transporters to do away with certain officers and then beaming a Changeling in their place without anyone being any the wiser, might seem like a bottom of the run position but they literally have the power of life and death in their hands, if one had a bad day he could instantly transport the entire crew into space without any warning and if you wanted to get rid of certain people there is no better method as you just dematerilise them then simply delete the pattern from the buffer, no mess to clear up but a few button presses.
Perfect sense

So the big item the Changelings stole from Daystrom was
[Show spoiler]Picard’d dead body? Why did Daystrom have it? What are the Changelings going to do with that? Why is it important? And why the hell do do they have James T Kirk’s body stored at Daystrom too?

Gotta give the showrunners credit.

How do you pay homage to a non-Star Trek IP that Gene Roddenberry was involved with while also being a Star Trek thing at the same time?

[Show spoiler]GENESIS II Device

And as mentioned above, what is located mere feat from it?

[Show spoiler]James T. Kirk. Genesis Wave regeneration anyone?

Those were some head-scratching reveals. I wonder what Geordi is keeping in Bay-12.

I just finished the new episode,
[Show spoiler]and despite all of the now-standard-for-this-series plot contrivances, handy-dandy (over)exposition, and overstuffed references to other Trek, I thought it was the best episode yet.

The momentum was infectious, as was FINALLY having all of the TNG crew in the same episode. Although I was initially wary of Data's reincarnation, I have to admit it suddenly got a little dusty in my movie room when he was reactivated. By all means, let's end the series with a new Data in the galaxy, perhaps eventually getting to be a Captain or a Professor as imagined in "All Good Things...". Even if we never get to know what his path is, it would be a better universe just knowing he's back in it.

The Fleet museum segment with Seven and Jack, Picard and Geordi discussing parenthood, and Geordi's confrontation with Sydney were also wonderful and organic, as opposed to other moments in the series (including the first two seasons) where you're expected to appreciate scenes simply because certain characters are in the room together, or there's a callback to a classic Trek character or moment. I hope they can keep this momentum and deliver more terrific character moments like these. Only four more episodes to go!

Another winner of an episode. Fan service turned up to 11, but... yeah, I like that.

There were moments here that hit me harder than I was expecting. The use of footage from 'Encounter At Farpoint' presented in widescreen (yes, it was zoomed in and cropped) looked absolutely lovely and caught me by surprise. And it seems that Riker has perfect pitch!

Of course, I adored the fleet museum, the use of old music as individual ships were viewed. People over on Reddit have pointed out that we saw the
[Show spoiler]Enterprise NX-01 refit, which was planned to be in season 5 of Enterprise.
. I literally leapt towards the screen when
[Show spoiler]the Defiant
appeared. And no prizes for guessing what's hidden in the mysterious hangar 12.

Soooo, who else thinks we are leading up to
[Show spoiler]a space battle between the modern Starfleet and all the old "un-networked" ships of the past?
Yeah, I'd be up for that.

But the moment of the episode which made me catch my breath was
[Show spoiler]when Data woke up and recognised Geordi. Brent Spiner went straight back into his Data voice and mannerisms, and it was quite stunning to watch.

And of course, Shaw turning to mush in front of Geordi!

The next episode is called Dominion and the clip shown from it on The Ready Room gives you a clear picture of
[Show spoiler]where things stand between the Changelings and whomever or whatever is orchestrating their efforts against the Federation. Vadic is most-definitely a Changeling, as we saw in the last episode, and completely under the thumb of whomever this more powerful not-a-Changeling entity is, which has obviously granted her and her band of wayward shapeshifters an evolutionary upgrade in exchange for being the muscle behind their attack on the Federation.

[Show spoiler]Without a doubt its going to the the Enterprise-D, already established that the saucer section was recovered and is housed at the museum and seeing as Geordie is the one in charge I bet he has been restoring it, add on an old stardrive section from any Galaxy class, lick of paint and we get Picard back in commander of his favourite ship then have Riker on the NX-01, Seven on Voyager, Jack on the Enterprise-A and of course Worf on the Defiant.

The way they kept banging on about how the whole fleet will be in one place for Frontier Day and now this revelation that all modern ships are networked together means without a doubt some kind of virus/code will be deployed which disables the entire fleet and our heroes will turn up with these older ships to defend who they can whilst they deploy whatever solution Geordie and Data will have come up with to get the fleet back online.

Exactly, and there is not a damn thing wrong with it, LOL!

The 2010's is marked by this need for subversiveness for the sake of it, and to deride the fanbases and why they love the franchises to begin with. (See: Star Wars, Jurassic World, etc.) It became the cool, hip thing to crap on what came before, and to avoid giving people what they clearly actually wanted.

That's why Matalas is a genius - he gets that, but is still able to deliver something new and in a more modern storytelling style. Picard S3 has proven you can have your cake, and eat it, too.

I was already a fan, but he put me over into gushing fanboy when in this episode he managed to take what I think is one of the single dumbest things in previous seasons (the whole Picard robot nonsense) and actually make me find it interesting...

As with each episode, just so much to unpack, but I'm surprised no one has mentioned the OMG are you kidding me???!!! Easter egg...which, perhaps, is just an Easter egg...but then again, I don't know if they would dare tease something like this without it actually meaning something before the end:

Yeah, just an Easter egg I think as well.

But I’ll be honest
[Show spoiler]what I wouldn’t give for one last Shatner as Kirk appearance. Even if it doesn’t make any sense lol

That's how I feel. Bolty is probably correct, but...I will say this, if it isn't just an easter egg (I need to watch it again in motion, but
[Show spoiler]that body scan looked like someone still alive, unlike the scan of Picard's corpse
), and he somehow manages to correct what was one of the biggest errors in pop culture history, let alone Trek history, with it...I'm flying to California to demonstrate at the gates of Paramount to demand they hand the keys to everything Trek over to Matalas, and will not leave until I'm able to kiss the ground he walks on.

The
[Show spoiler]James T Kirk
thing was a little bit a memberberry here, but the episode was pretty great overall.

Well he is right next to
[Show spoiler]an apparently functional Genesis torpedo and we know what the Genesis wave did for Spock's body. And they did throw in TOS style "bio-bed" sounds to indicate he's alive. I heard people say hire Chris Pine to play rejuvenated Kirk. But that cameo would have been spoiled long ago. Deepfake/de-age Shatner? Stupid idea! But I'm all for it.

Same here.
[Show spoiler]I'm fine with it just being an Easter egg, but what I wouldn't give for it to be something more now or in the future.

[Show spoiler]I thought this as well but I think it will be the Enterprise F personally. Or maybe the E. But they have shown pics of the F and have referenced it as getting an early decommission for the fleet museum.
