Some artifacting and color banding inherent to the source. It probably can't look any better because the CGI and post processing effects were mastered that way. Being 4k isn't going to fix that. I thought the FUNI blu release looked great.

No, it really isn't. It's the best they could do with the materials provided, which is far from exceptional. It doesn't even have the japanese dub.

Japanese dub was not needed as it was a english dub originally I believe. The urban vision release was pretty bad pq wise, the bluray release was a great upgrade.

It’s exceptional over the old UV DVD and barring an expensive and timely restoration with Kawajiri overseeing it, this is as good as it will ever look with the material that exists.

As the bolded, take that up with the Japanese licensor, not Discotek. Urban Vision couldn’t use the Japanese dub either. I don’t hold it against the US licensors for something they can’t have access to.

I was under the impression that the bluray looked worse than the dvd due to the way it was encoded/source material but perhaps I’m mistaken.

Hopefully it gets a Blu-ray in Japan one day with both language options. Speaking of the English version, I just saw Bumblebee and the mom is played by the actress who played Leila in VHD: Bloodlust.

As for the japanese dub (as opposed to "original audio") not being included; strangely enough this was licensed to several European countries; the french DVD includes it on a seperate disc. Maybe things were different for blu-ray, or maybe reverse importation wasn't an issue since European dvd's were PAL.

Point is the release is nowhere near exceptional, I wish it was.

Whatever I'm perfectly fine with the bluray. Complaining about no japanese dub in this specific case seems silly. Each their own.

I would love to upgrade my VHS of Raven Tengu Kabuto OVA. Would love for it to be part of a release with the TV show. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karasu_Tengu_Kabuto

And per Bobo1313's comment, I would love to see GALL FORCE on blu-ray. Still have the series box set.

On the plus side, be happy these got caught, because you really don’t want to buy a disc with problems like this...

Bummer about the issues, but glad they were caught a this stage. I rather something be done right than fast, and it's nice to read about a company concerned about trying get the product finished right.

Well that slate was a huge let down. Can't remember the last time they released only two titles.

I wish I could personally thank Discotek for releasing these seasons of Beyblade. 15 years of waiting and my prayers have finally been answered.

I'm still waiting for them to upgrade their previous dvd releases into blurays - Darkstalkers, Mazinger Z, Wicked City, etc... Giving us only two releases, Beyblade and whatever that puppet show is, is extremely disappointing =/

It’s just rounding out their March 2019 slate which also includes Kimagure Orange Road. So actually, there’s 3 BD releases. They could realistically add 1 or 2 more things, perhaps DVDs or something.

Good point. They didn't do the March slate like they usually do their slates (all at once), already got KOR on preorder.

On another note, I’m not going to sleep on Star Fleet X-Bomber myself, there’s something really endearing and charming about the clips I’ve watched on it. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, don’t judge a book by its cover (here’s lookin at you, Thunderbolt Fantasy). I certainly don’t mind it’s inclusion.

I am hoping we get an HD release of Mazinger from Discotek, as the show has been released properly in Japan.
