Honestly, one of my anime white whales I'm very much hoping Discotek could grab one day would be the 1982 Queen Millennia film. Probably the tin foil hat talking but I can't help if music rights are what could be a hurdle for it.

Discotek manages to avoid some of that by being upfront. Instead of quietly releasing something that they know will bother some customers and hoping to avoid discussing it, Discotek will flat-out say "we weren't allowed to do that."
It instantly builds some trust with customers and takes away some of the mystery of how/why things are done.

I too would love the Queen Millenia film. The ending really packs a punch. I am hoping they can release the TV series of it… maybe.

And who owns the rights to Space Battleship Yamato??? I can’t believe the three series and movies have not been released here. It is the grand daddy of classic anime series.

The company that controls SBY in Murica is more or less defunct - they currently exist only to get royalty payments from the release of the 2010's SBY remake - and they have no assets to use for releasing the classic series and films in any form. The American version, Star Blazers, is effectively lost to time, as far as everyone who wants to see it is concerned. Any release of SBY would have to come from the Japanese side and it would require a Japanese-only release or the American rights-holder/localizer to step-aside and sign off on it, especially if a new English dub was to be made, which is mandatory for an English release.

Wondering:

Any chance Discotek is gonna release more classic 1972-1980 Super Robot series on true HD, no upscale or SDBD?

Yes, but they aren't going to say so before it's time to announce. That stuff is a staple of their brand and it depends heavily on the Japanese owners doing their part to make such a release happen.

The 2002 Star Blazers DVD collections don't look too difficult to get if you really want them (Vol. 1 can even be bought new with Prime shipping from Amazon). The entire series is also on YouTube last I checked (although I think the upload is unofficial). It's a bit of a stretch to say that dub is "lost to time."

That's proper and legit.
Thank you so much for your polite answer.

As far as Star Blazers goes, I got the old DVD Boxsets just a few years back for my birthday which I posted in the Anime Haul thread.

It's fine. Not offensive in any way considering it's an upscale.

Our BD release of Ghost Stories is definitely a significant upgrade over the old DVDs, but yeah, it upscale.

And despite having Lupin III Swallowtail Tattoo and Another Live Action in the order with Treasure Island. They shipped Treasure Island by itself.

Not just you; they did they same thing with me. Don't know why Lupin wouldn't get shipped at the same time.

I would happily collect a complete release of MegaMan NT Warrior's English Dub, that was my childhood.
