I will buy this when it is "jailbreak"ed AKA(LOL)-hacked and I get get all of the NHL and Madden games on this!

After revealing the final ten games bundled on the system (plus a couple of surprises), we were then treated to the wonderful sight of the infamous 'Tower of Power' in miniature form. Created by stacking a Mega Drive on a Mega CD and then adding a 32X, a lock-on Sonic & Knuckles-style cartridge and finally a regular cart, it's gone down as a hilarious testament to the 'more is more' mantra of Sega during the 'console wars'. The mini variants shown are purely cosmetic of course, but we want them all the same.

It seems that the Collector's Edition of the console, available now for pre-order on the Japanese Sega store, will also come with a set of 22 framed mini carts to complete the collection. That's a whole lot of 'useless' black plastic and, in many ways, it couldn't be more fitting.

What I'd like to know: What's the largest 'Tower of Power' one can assemble that still results in a playable game when turned on?

I read a preview recently that mentioned the language and box art of the games changes based on the selected language. I wondered if that meant the lineup changes as well, but it is clarified in this article (you may need a translator) that it is just the display of your region’s games. Too bad, I guess I will still have to do some importing.

New videos from Sega Japan:

Probably new videos coming for Genesis, MD (EU), and MD (Asia) but I haven’t seen anything yet.

I found some minor updates on the Japanese site and from ascii.jp, still nothing regarding the SoC or storage so that'll probably have to wait for a teardown in September. Anyway, here are a few things that caught my eye:

- Native output is 720p (I believe this was previously confirmed)
- Default output is 960 x 672 (3x standard Genesis 320 x 224) w/ wallpaper or black space
- No info regarding 256 x 224 games or games, I'm curious if they stretch to 320 like a CRT or if they remain dot-by-dot?
- Option to stretch the game to fullscreen
- Optional CRT filters

- Input delay was captured at .83ms w/ TV in game mode (this may be specific to the TV used)
- No DRM preventing video capture
- 6-button pads recognized natively in Win10 (button mapping is off since modern controllers don't use that Street Fighter II-style layout)
- Modern console controllers (PS4/Xbox One) do not work on Genesis Mini
- They were able to power the system w/ an 18W battery (I'll stick to 5W, tyvm)
