I love both shows, but Parks is far and away the better of the two in my opinion. The Office takes a bit longer to get into, and it can kind of seem a bit repetitive in terms of structure, and antics once you start watching it (which isn't really all bad). Some of the seasons, especially the latter half of the series gets worse due to some changes that happen, but still watchable, and definitely still some funny moments. Steve Carell did a great job on the show. At first I couldn't stand his sliminess, but he changes over the course of the show, and you can't help but love him in the end.
Parks is just a much funnier show, with a broader canvas to work with. So, rather than being mostly limited to the Office set, it has the whole city of Pawnee to make stories out of, and so we see a deeper set of extended characters, which we all get to learn about their little quirks, etc.. The main cast however is just amazing. I mean, this is the show that put Chris Pratt on the map, and also boasts the talent of Aziz Ansari, Aubrey Plaza, Nick Offerman, and Rashida Jones ( ![]() Overall, I think both have left their mark on television with some memorable characters, and if you watch them all the way through, you will care about their lives, and laugh and cry right along with them. |

I bought Parks & Rec. It was backordered but no big deal cuz I have a ton of stuff to watch. I have never watched the show besides a few minutes of like one episode. I loved the first few seasons of The Office though. It will be nice to pop in Parks when I just want to relax and watch something light. I haven't really been watching any sitcoms anymore and I used to love them.

I finally broke down and ordered Parks & Rec... I get 10% off with my AMEX Blue Cash card, so it's like $25 shipped for me (assuming it actually ships). Never really watched the series. I saw like 2 random episodes, but that's about it. I think I own season 1 already, but never watched it. For this price, screw it... It is $109.99 at BB!!!

Thanks, pm'd Amazon at Best Buy(from like $117). I thought I might hit a snag with it being temporarily out of stock, but they didn't care, they just cared about it being offered directly from Amazon.
Thought about getting The Office too, but the fact seasons 5-9 aren't blurays bugs me too much. I guess I should get it, then spend another $5 average per seasons 5-9 and just keep them in the complete set box. I'm OCD that way, I guess. |
