Default Uncharted

So I’ve spent that past 4 days playing through the 4 Uncharted games. I never played Drakes Fortune and after playing it, doing my best to pretend it was 2007, I was mentally fatigued. I thought the last section in the church was really badly paced. But it was a solid enough experience. Among Thieves is where I came into the series and it still stands as my favourite. (I am about half way though A Thief’s End). Drake’s Deception was once a game I admired but after playing through it again, the insane difficulty spikes remain a massive no no for me. Ruins the enjoyment and one particular level right before the plane which should be a level ramping up the tension before the big final set piece utterly destroys the momentum by throwing everything at you. On easy mode, I felt like I was a game tester.

Another thing i was struck by was after playing through the 3 remastered which all ran at a flawless 60 FPS, was starting up A Thiefs End and seeing it barely chug along. Yes the graphic fidelity and character models are far superior but it just looks bad for the newest game to run the poorest of the 4. That early prison brawl was seriously 15fps, with the PS4 Pro sounding ready to blow up.

Thoughts on the series anyone?

And is Lost Legacy a fully fledged title just without Drake or is it more of a DLC title?

I'm (mostly) in agreement with you about Drake's Fortune - it easily ages the worst out of all of them. That church section is a complete pain and every time I replay it I always dread it.

Among Thieves is where I, too, came into the series. Definitely one of the best of the PS3 era of Uncharted. Fantastic story, tight gameplay, improved over its predecessor, and the multiplayer was pretty fun.

Drake's Deception is a bit of a mixed bag for a lot of people. For instance, my wife didn't like it but I thought it was better than Among Thieves. I feel like the set pieces were top notch and when I consider the entire series, Drake's Deception is what I look back on fondly. Between the Burning Chateau, the ship, the pirate yard, the plane sequence, and the desert, I thought it was a brilliant game. The multiplayer took a step down and the story was a bit stereotypical, but man those set pieces stuck with me.

A Thief's End is my personal favorite of the bunch. I think it satisfyingly wraps up the 4-game arc of Nathan Drake and has a ton of gameplay improvements. It's such a fantastic game with a much more personal story than the others.

I haven't played Lost Legacy, but yes, that's essentially what it is. You get to play Chloe from Uncharted 2 & 3.

I love the series.

Drake's Fortune was a lot of fun when it first burst on the scene and was a HUGE breath of fresh air and the main reason I bought a PS3. After looking back now, it's the weakest in the series, but back then it was awesome. (Don't get me wrong, it's still great - just not as good as the others in the series now).

Among Thieves kicked it up in a big way. Loved bringing in Chloe and the storyline was fantastic too. The whole thing worked for me in a big way and it's my second favorite of the 5-game series.

Drake's Deception's set pieces are FANTASTIC as Vault mentioned. The storyline overall just didn't hit as much for me though. I found this to be the weakest in terms of storyline of the first three, but gameplay and setting wise, it's hard to beat.

A Thief's End is my favorite of the series and one of my favorite games ever. I hate giving perfect 10 scores, but I would absolutely give it a perfect 10 without hesitation - it's THAT good.

Lost Legacy is also a fun ode to the Uncharted world. Chloe is the Chloe Frazier we know from the other games, but is also different as we learn more about her backstory. It's a shorter game, but fun nonetheless.

As far as video game series go, this is my favorite non-sports franchise. I personally hope and wish for more to come!

An absolutely amazing adventure. Uncharted 4 is a mind blowing game that had me hooked from the beginning. It is mind blowing and one of the best games out on the PS4 now that combines both action and story together. Naughty Dog games did it again with another must own title. From beginning to end they put everything into this game. Even the ending is superb. This game was an emotional roller coaster, one in which will stay in my library.

Graphics: Best I have ever seen. Best looking game out to date.
Sound: Excellent
Soundtrack: Spot on
Story: Hits you in the gut and the next second has your palms sweaty in defense while trying to stay alive.

Overall: Naughty Dog finest game since the last of us. I'm giving this game a 10/10 because I could just feel, see, and hear how Naughty Dog poured their hearts into this game leaving no stone without a mark. A must buy for any PS4 in my opinion

Lost Legacy is a fully fledged title. It plays differently in that it has it's length in a giant open area where you can tackle tasks in different orders.

I loved it though and rank it higher than some of the Nate's adventures.

Lost Legacy is about as long as Uncharted 1. It was meant to be a good bit shorter but as they were making it they expanded it.

When the eventual PS5 is released, I’m hoping for two things. A remaster or part 4 in 4K locked at 60 FPS and a remake of the original game. I’d of course like to see an all new entry in the series as well. Uncharted is my favorite game series of all time.

I bet we'll see a new Uncharted in a few years.
