Default Hewlett-Packard - which camp? BD? HD DVD?

The post regarding universal led me thinking regarding HP, which might be have the same story as universal.

I am so confused, which side HP is on now?? (I know they first sided with BD, then go with HD DVD as well)

I plan to buy a laptop, and this laptop MUST have Blu-ray. I always buy HP, but they don't releaseBD laptop in UK (except for business)

Here is what they have:
*USA: Desktop: mostly HD DVD, but can be customised with BD burner/HD DVD reader. No HD DVD burner. (I doubt if LG did not release that combo drive, HP will ever release BD)
Laptop: HD DVD (some models with HD DVD burner), no BD

*UK: Desktop: no hi-def formats
Laptop: HD DVD

USA/UK: Business laptop (not FOR ME, I want entertainmen, not featureless laptop): BD

I just don't get it, they have HD DVD reader in UK, not HD DVD-R, which means its for watching movies from Universal and some movies that also released in BD. While BD, at least for me, can be used to watch BD (I got no HD DVD)

They apparently said that they have a roadmap to BD, but not in the near future, while their executives (which gets me thinking of their similarities with Universal),said that HD DVD is more friendly. What kind of friendly if you can't watch your favourite movies?

I have a plan to buy Pavilion HDX, but if my computer breaks down (it already shows the sign of breaking down) then it's VAIO AR series. Bye Bye, HP!

Be careful with the videocards though, you need a 7950 or 8 series for this to work well. I use a M1710 7950 setup with a UJ 220 Blu Ray drive.

Apples are very expensive to work with. I must be really cheap beacause I basically refuse to pay for the computer and software to run an apple along with the costs of buying about 3-4 blu ray movies every week.

dell is my third option (they don't have 20 inch option with BD in UK). I know Sony is overpriced, but Toshiba is worse. GBP1999 for Sony with BD-RE, and GBP2199 for Toshiba with read-only HD DVD.

My next laptop needs to be BD-based or DVD-based (and of course, 20 inch). I'll consider mac once it release BD. But with the demise of HD DVD, when universal goes neutral (I expect this soon), HP might release BD laptop. I will patiently wait till my laptop breaks down.

I am considering of purchasing Pavilion HDX with standard DVD writer, then replace it with this:

Panasonic BD drive.

@jorg, I am interested in buying the drive, just like I said in my post just above this.
But, the majority of people said "Impossible" in this thread

I'll appreciate it if you can give me a non-ebay link.

Glad to know your history on HP on HD.

They went from being a BDA spokes-company, to HD-DVD spokes-company (and basically saying that the BDA tricked them after MS "revealed" the truth"), to gone completely quiet about their HD-DVD backing.

What annoying regarding HP execs are the fact that some months before go neutral, they even defend BD along with dell, regarding M$ attack - BD has less space than HD DVD.
This will be embarrasement and a lesson for them not to switch side. They started to realise HD DVD is losing by releasing BD/HD DVD combo recently, and even withdrawing the detail of Pavilion HDX model with HD DVD (several days ago), while the DVD writer model is still there.
