Default Universal: some upcoming HD-DVD movies... (are they serious ?!)

Okay, don't panic as this happened a while back and Spielberg was very upset about it. However, Universal Japan is showing previews of Spielberg movies on HD DUD.

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...sentation/1044

Edit: HD DUD promotional group had to apologize after the first error...so again, don't panic...yet.

Agreed...I doubt this is real, but we need to be ready in case something happens like this. Besides, Spielberg hasn't issued a statement yet. However, PM has been kissing up to him and DW lately.

It could be true, but only if they go neutral and release on Blu-ray too.

Glad you put it like that. However, I'm sure the HD DUD camp will be abuzz with this for a while until SS comes up with a rebuttal. So, people posting on AVM$ or anywhere else, be aware.

Highdefdigest is biased to HD-DVD so they are most likely not telling the whole story. Remember that his titles will not be exclusive, so if the come out for HD-DVD they will be on Blu. They were the exception to the rule.

Also, it's a Blu-World over in Japan so this wouldn't help them at this point. They can show Jaws all the want, because HD-DVD which is red is in a sea of blu and is being torn apart.

well, I think thats interesting. But i am a little worried because Including those pictures of those movies in a public and big pressentation would be way off limits if they wernt in the works cause as we know, those movies are a sensitive subject and universal knows it, those movies releasing anytime soon would effect the war in a big way and it would lean in ones favor.

They aren't forthcoming titles, they're touting Universal's catalogue in a presentation about HD-DVD and it's backers.

HD-DVD is already dead in Japan no one even takes notice.

already been said by SS himself anything coming to HD DVD is coming to blu-ray. IF these are coming to HD DVD, they are coming to blu-ray. Sounds more or less to me like Universal is using Spielburg's movies to get a little into the blu-ray market.

Default Spielberg on HD in Japan??

There is a disturbing (to me, anyway) story at HiDef Digest about scenes from several of Spielberg's Universal classics being used in Japan for promoting the HD system. Hope it is not an omen of what could happen - unless Universal plans on going format neutral.

Japan is already 9:1 BD. Japan will not fall to HD-DVD unless North America falls, IMO.

Default Universal Japan Touts Spielberg Titles in HD DVD Presentation

Universal Japan Touts Spielberg Titles in HD DVD Presentation

this is great news for blu-ray, if you think outside the box. another clear indication that Universal is crossing over. As we all know, Speilberg is an avid blu-ray supporter, why all of a sudden allow this, especially in a market that is dead with HD-DVD? The answer is clear, compromise. Universal probably compromised with speilberg to release their [universal's] movies in blu-ray if he[speilberg] allows his movies to be also introduced on HD-dvd. if they're going neutral, why shouldn't speilberg? compromise

just thinking outside the box

The last article I read in the last week showed Blu-ray in a 9:1 lead over HD-DVD. The war is quite over in Japan. The sounds like a marketing gimmick...god knows what for.

Or they'll be releasing them along side the Blu-ray counterparts.
