Microsoft has acquired Bethesda for $7.5 billion

Doom, Fallout, Elder Scrolls oh and Fallout New Vegas 2 is possible now. not to mention Avowed, Xbox will end up having the biggest rpgs this gen, while Sony devs chasing twitter clout lol

but really as someone who prefers PlayStation's consoles, I have to say this is a huge loss for Sony, unless Microsoft keep these multiplatforms

Now, I could be wrong but I have a sneaking suspicion that Bethesda games will continue to be made available everywhere, despite being owned by MS. You don't pay 7.5 Billion for a publisher just to keep those games exclusive to just your platform. The real exclusivity will come in the form of those games being available day and date in Game Pass.

This is going to be interesting.

Microsoft is smart.
One, this builds up their Gamepass library without needing to buy all these licensing deals. Plus They make money for selling these games on PS5...it's a win-win for them, since they're not trying to outsell Sony.

Well Microsoft would be dumb if theses titles weren't exclusive. There would be zero reason to own a series S/X. They aren't trying to outsell Sony, they Are trying to get the biggest install base for that monthly subscription fee known as "Game Pass" !

Without exclusivity they would lose millions of potential customers, as those millions play it on PS5 instead of buying an XBox.

Like I said, No way these wind up on a Sony platform. No way.

And you dont even need an xbox to play gamepass games anymore, as I can play them all on my android phone & Bluetooth controller if I wanted to.

To me, buying a developer or buying a publisher does the same thing. I was just pointing out that if it was Sony who purchased Bethesda for 7.5 billion, the reaction would be the exact opposite for a lot of people here, while my stance would remain unchanged.

They purchased 2nd party studios that were largely making games for their owned IPs for years. They never purchased a third party published that owned multiple studios that were making IPs that were made everywhere. Its not quite the same thing. This is a bigger deal than Sony purchasing a studio like Naughty Dog that was long associated with and only making games for them

I know the Ori games are on switch, and all xbox games on gamepass can be played on a mobile device now. But I do not have any specific examples off the top of my head.

It's a fantastic move by MS. They can put out all the Bethesda games on GPU, whilst the chumps who only have a PS have fork out $70 each, MS makes a profit from the PS sales and Xbox users reap the rewards of GPU.

Microsoft also owns Majong and we still get Minecraft on multi plat.

Whether it's Naughty Dog back in 2001, or Insomniac Games as recently as this past February... "Zero" is not remotely the answer.

I also believe you don't even own your disk games.

I own Rainbow Six: Siege digitally. I couldn't play a few days ago because servers were down. My buddy has the disk and he also couldn't play.

In my opinion there is no difference in your "digital rights" these days, whether it be digital or physical

Not for nothing, not if every game ends up on GPU day one. They will make billions in GPU subs. They already do ($2.4 billion last year) from their subscription services anyway but this would certainly help bring in more subs.
