So I get this mission where I must place this very important structure in either one of my outposts or on my ship. I figure "If I place it in one of my outposts, I can literally encase it in a room that can be entered in only one way, have turrets protecting it from all the corners of the room and have robots guarding it from inside and outside.
Except there's just one slight problem. This structure cannot be built inside any structural compound in your outpost. It has to be built OUTSIDE. You can try putting it on the roof of your buildings, but the structure itself will 'float' about three feet from the surface. When you bring it to the planet's surface, it created a concrete base for it to reside on. So yeah. That's a heck of an oversight. In Fallout 4, you could make all kinds of buildings of any size, inside and out. If I had the same building techniques in Starfield as I have here in Starfield, I'd be able to build something that would house this structure easily. Even better than where it used to reside. But this next generation game that followed Fallout 4 doesn't even allow you to do that. But you know what does allow you to do that? No Man's Sky. :P |

For that mission, I put it off as long as I could, but finally opted for [Show spoiler] I'm totally burnt out mining for stuff after NMS, so I avoided it almost completely other than scanning in Starfield. I can't believe they wanted to copy No Man's Sky in so many aspects including mining for minerals, scanning for animals. Thankfully there isn't a freezing storm every 5 minutes in this game like in NMS. Quote:
I still cannot sell my original ship last time I tried. The game said selling my ship "this task is not possible at this time". Along those lines. |

I never figured out how to lean out from a corner during a gun battle if that was indeed possible or not. It'll be a while before I play again. I have access to the ship I was hoping for, but now that I have it, I remember there isn't much you can actually do with it other than fly around a small area in space while looking at the planets you can't actually fly to.
I wish they made the planets seamless to land onto, since they were trying so much to match many of No Man's Sky's features. They left that great feature of of Starfield unfortunately, and it makes the whole ship experience for flying very limited. You can't even fly while on the planet's surface. That really hurt the sense of immersion IMO after playing NMS. Thankfully Starfield really makes up for it with the gun battles, which were usually fun. I did see a couple AI enemies stuck behind a door and sticking out of the door halfway, which was a glitch. The game really could use a scooter or hover board to get around these giant, mostly empty planet maps. Jumping with the jet pack is a nice feature, but feels kind of slow. In Fallout 3, 4 and NV, there was always something exciting to find around every corner of the main landscape map. In this Starfield game, that's missing IMO. Big time, for much of the places you visit. I would put Oblivion above Starfield in my ranking list. FO3 FO4 FONV Skyrim Oblivion Starfield Skyrim PSVR |

No idea what is in the upcoming DLC, but if it has ground transportation it will be worth it. |

Yes, I see enemies firing with their gun while in full cover, blind firing. In other words, if you are behind a wall, you can press a button and the character will lean out slightly to fire without fully exposing their cover. Right now, I have to fully walk to have any cover shooting. |

But I've also been using the [Show spoiler] or whatever it's called to sprint for long(er) distances. That makes a significant difference, and you start to regen immediately after using it. Although you do have to pause/stop moving momentarily to trigger it between uses. I take the oxygen meter to full red before I pause and activate it, then start sprinting again. I've yet to deplete the meter because I tend to stop to either mine a material or get into a squabble with a local to gain some XP.Quote:

@Zivouhr, forget what I said above about shoot-from-cover not working on PC (typically right mouse button or left trigger if using a controller). I tried to get it to work in 3rd person like the way it was in Fallout 4. Except that actually isn't entirely true with FO4 because the base game does not have shoot from cover in 3rd person, and I was using a mod for it that I completely forgot about! So the Starfield base game does allow you to shoot from cover, but it only works in 1st person, just like the FO4 base game.

The long neck Tongue Creature that looks like a Brontosaurus, is on a lot of planets I noticed.
A lot of bug-like creatures in this game. Quote:
Off topic: On the Moon for example, I wanted to see if I could float out of gravity's force like one of the characters mentioned and like I see some enemies do when their jet packs burst, but so far, I can't reach vertical enough to go into orbit. I guess the character would die if I float out of orbit if it was possible. The aim button, okay, thanks. Quote:
Next time I'll stand near a wall, and then use the aim button to lean out. I wonder if I already achieved it but just never really noticed it too much. I'll test it out, thanks. |

I saw some green, big cat-like creatures on one planet. They were completely peaceful. They almost acted like dogs who wanted to play fetch when you walked up to them. Very cute.
Then some ******* giant crab-scorpion came and killed one of them ![]() Regarding the lean-out, it’s probably easier getting it to lean around a corner than it is over an obstacle. |

As for mechanized travel missing in the game, when I went through that "museum" in the beginning of I think the Vanguard story-line that explained the wars, the first thing I thought of was, "Cool, we're getting [Show spoiler] !!! I thought it was the obvious direction given that you get power suits in FO4, but sadly that isn't the case. What's weird is there isn't a specific "aim" key binding on PC. Unlike XB, there is actually a "Aim/Bash" button. Instead the binding name we get for it on PC is "Secondary Attack" lol |

The jet pack is a fun addition to the game in Starfield. My favorite part is avoiding the tram in Atlantis city, and hopping onto the rooftops and seeing my ship way far below. I do a running leap off the ledge and jet pack safely to the ground. That's really cool and probably my favorite new thing in a Bethesda game.
In Fallout 4, the Brotherhood of Steel mechanical suits could jet pack, but I wasn't able to get them to do what these can do on the low gravity planets. I just wish Starfield had one giant planet with tons of unique buildings and villages to discover, but instead, they spread it out over 1000 planets, and of those 1000, maybe only 50 with very unique buildings and storylines linked to them it seemed IMO. Some unliked to the main story, like the Paradiso planet. Neon is in the Volii system on the star map, for the best cash in of gained weapons, suits, packs and junk to dump off to the traders for big bucks fast. The club with the dancers reminds me of an old episode of Buck Rogers the TV series, with the cheesy outfits and big hats. I actually went back to any earlier save after completing the game, as there is no real advantage to being a [Show spoiler] Quote:
Fallout 3 hinted at mechanical horses, but that was never to be. Those atomic motorcycles could've been fun to ride. I tested out the game again and in Starfield, even in 3rd person, I see the character slightly leans their gun out to my surprise. Like when I was aiming above the rock, the character stood up slightly, and then I aimed back at the rock, and the character bent back down slightly. Very subtle in FPS view too, so I'm sure that's why I overlooked it. I just walk out of cover for a second, fire and go back into full cover again to reload or dodge. |
