Does it play other movies and PS3 games? If so, then I'd say the issue isn't the hardware.

Cabin in the Woods is too new. That's got to be a firmware upgrade. Not sure if I mentioned this or not, but my copy of Open Water 1 & 2 kept skipping on Open Water 2: Adrift on my Insignia NS-WBRDVD2, but plays on my slim PS3.

After finding this thread I was a bit worried as I have a Large amount of Lionsgate titles. After going through all of the ones that were issued prior to 2009, I did find 1 title which wouldn't play. My copy of "SAW" wouldn't even load the disk. The disk itself just spun and spun but I was unable to launch the movie. From what I can tell the titles to be concerned with are the original first batch of titles that Lionsgate put out in 2006. I've contacted Lionsgate with my dilemma, so we'll see how they respond.

Update on my original comment... Lionsgate e-mailed me back and gave me the same horse shit they give everyone about Blu Ray compatibility and problems with firmware. I decided to just say screw it though, As even if I pressed the issue and was given a new disk, I'd still have to mail in the defective one and shipping would be around $2.00 - $3.00 I'd wager and with Saw 1 already only costing 4.99 at Best Buy, plus the fact that I have a copy of it packed with my Saw 6, I just figured it wasn't worth the effort.

So both House of 1000 Corpses and Devil's Rejects came in the mail from Best Buy. paid 4.99 each for them with free shipping. Stuck both of them in and good news, they are both playing fine. My first Devil's Rejects rotted out over a year ago so im glad I got the new pressing. So if yours rotted out and your looking for a cheap replacement, Best Buy still has them available online for 4.99 with free shipping.

I would like to add my copy of "Lord of War" to the pile of "Does not work anymore for any discernible reason"
All my other Blu-Rays work fine. It was probably one of the first Blu-Rays I bought and I haven't tried to watch it in years, so no idea how long ago it went bad.. but I tried to watch it last night and it does nothing when put in the player.. ![]() |

I'd like to add Rambo III to the list of Lionsgate Blu's that no longer work. I bought the original 3 pack of the Rambo Collection on Blu (has the Blue packaging and pic of Rambo on the cover). Rambo 1 and 2 work fine but my PS3 wont even recognize Rambo III.
I then went to Wally World and purchased another copy of Rambo III for $5. This one does not work either. Both copies have the same SN; 31398-23301 ![]() |

I have called and emailed Lionsgate (lionsgateshop@orderassistance.com) (877 230 2756) about my defective discs. I have managed to get some replaced after sending the defective ones to their office for "testing". I think its important to at least let Lionsgate know that they have some problematic discs that have been sold.

Thanks for the info Mikey. I'm going to give them a call and see if they wont work something out with me.
edit: Just called and they took my info and gave me a ticket #. Now I have to send in my disc and they will send me a replacement. Last edited by DasRetroKid; 11-19-2012 at 05:59 PM. Reason: Added info after I called |

I would suggest you call the 877 number a few posts above and complain about it. When they ask you to try it in another blu ray player, tell them that that is the only blu ray player you have.
I sent in my Rambo III disc a few days back. Let's see if I get a "newer" replacement that works. We give these companies a lot of our money and can't settle for non working discs. |

UPD: Just checked the discs on dad's laptop and they work perfectly fine. But it's not like it's my fault, so I still hope Lionsgate resolves this. Last edited by Antiochus; 12-05-2012 at 03:15 PM. Reason: typo |

***UPDATE: It took a while, but Lionsgate sent me a replacement Rambo III and IT WORKS! The funny thing is the Blu Ray has the same exact serial number as the one I sent in, but I guess this replacement they sent me is from a newer "good" batch.
I can finally watch Rambo III on Blu ![]() |

Just encountered my first defective blu-ray. It's the original Terminator 2 disc that Lionsgate released. The animated graphic that pops up when you press play from the menu gets pixelated and then goes blank. It also starts sputtering during the last scene and the credits won't play at all.
I guess I'll finally have to buy the waxy Skynet edition (can't afford the Japanese version). Last edited by Drewza89; 03-06-2013 at 02:49 AM. |
