Holy Cow. Show business is big business.
Was Spielberg's office broken into, or was it an inside job? The article is (necessarily) vague. Can't wait to see where this goes, but I feel I'll be missing the whole story.

Same old HD DVD trying to mislead people into thinking that the Spielberg films are coming soon. Yes, we already know most of Spielberg is part of Universal's library. The first time at CES07, I'll give them a pass. But after the HD DVD PR Group publicly acknowledged and admitted (at the behest of Spielberg's camp) they made a boo-boo at CES, I have a hard time believing this wasn't just pure intellectual dishonesty this time around. Pathetic.

I will know Blu-Ray is in trouble when I start seeing presentations from the BDA which show Star Wars Episodes 1-6...

Actually, Spielberg titles are explicitly excluded from the exclusivity contract.

So, those titles can be released on Blu before the 18 monthes.

My guess is E.T. isn't coming to Blu-ray till 30th anniversary (2012). Hope I'm wrong.

Just a couple of the comments being made "over there"

Yes, He is talking about Steven Spielberg.

Then togo Blu-ray.com and tell them not the Associated Press or something like that. This fanboyisim is sad.

This one is even more amazing.

I think they're one press release away from the nut house over there.

I’m not surprised.

One day you see Mr. Coppola being slammed on AVM$ for his creative choices or his visual acuity (or that of his colleague who has worked in the business with him for years) and the next day you see someone of the stature of Steven Spielberg being slammed on AVM$.

God forbid legendary filmmaker Marty Scorsese ever comes out with an implication that he prefers the Blu-ray format. I would hate to see how his name and judgment will be degraded on AVM$.

Don’t these people know or remember what these masters have done for motion pictures over the past years ?
And what they continue to do to this day for film preservation !

My God, if you disagree with someone like S. Spielberg, at least keep it to yourself in respect for what he has accomplished for us all in terms of entertainment.
