Maybe you know the answer to this? I don't expect the "big names" in Hollywood to hang out in forums, but I would guess that they have "people" who check them out from time to time?

Also, in all your travels, if you ever bump into Steven Spielberg tell him I said 1941 kicked ass!

Yes, He is talking about Steven Spielberg.

Then togo Blu-ray.com and tell them not the Associated Press or something like that. This fanboyisim is sad.

This one is even more amazing.

I think they're one press release away from the nut house over there.
So, the depth of research done to determine if Spielberg has done any research into the matter is as follows.

"Does he agree with my opinion"

Got it.

Now please, correct me if I'm wrong there, I'm only seeing a tidbit of that guy's post, but he does he try to back up the belief that Spielberg is being a shill with anything besides not agreeing with the apparant conclusion?

LOL, The little joke made a lot of sense though, it would be funny if WB read that and said, "wow, that makes sense, lets go with it" (which I think they will) and it back fires on the hddud fanboy that posted it would be Classic.

Please for the love of God tell me your joking.

It was made back in the 80's*. Starred Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi. Lots of other "named" actors had parts also. Toshiro Mifune,Ned Beatty, Christopher Lee, Robert Stack, Tim Matheson, Treat Williams, and the greatest of all Slim Pickens.

Universal Japan prematurely touts Spielberg HD-DVD
Just a quick note to put a kibosh on some news that circulated online this weekend: An image from a presentation held by Universal Japan has been lighting up the Internet with talk of some major Spielberg films coming to HD-DVD, top-tier titles such as “Jaws,” “E.T.,” “Jurassic Park” and more.

Thing is, all of this is news to Amblin/DreamWorks who have a say in the format and issuance of Spielberg’s work on any home video format. Unfortunately, this is the second time in less than six-months that the very anxious HD-DVD group (of which Universal is a very key member when it comes to software content) have prematurely announced Spielberg titles coming to HD-DVD.

At this time, there are no official plans to release any Spielberg-directed titles to the HD DVD format, except for tomorrow’s release of “Twilight Zone The Movie” (a feature that includes the short Spielberg film “Kick the Can”).

Beyond “Twilight Zone” (that will be released in both HD-DVD and Blu-ray), Spielberg fans have November 13th’s high-def debut of “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” to look forward to exclusively on the Blu-ray format. Beyond that, any other talk of Spielberg films on high-def at this time is premature, no matter the source, even Universal.

No kidding, Penton... I love how these self-apointed experts are able to use Amir-ian logic to formulate the opinion - based on nothing, of course - that somehow Mr. Spielberg is a coprorate shill. What?!? This is the worst kind of behavior imaginable from these supposed film fans. I hate it when people get so caught up in technology that they forget its purpose - - to enjoy FILM in the highest quality possible!

Anyway, one day down the road when these morons are watching a beautifully restored version of The Godfather on Blu-ray, that the same "Money-grubbing shill" that they once publically bashed is the same person who went above the heads of the studio and donated millions of his own funds to make sure that The Godfather was saved from deterioration and survived for future generations.

Every film fan owes Mr. Spielberg a sincere thank you, regardless of their HD affiliation.

The best thing we all can do is go and order Close Encounters and Twilight Zone and send Mr. Spielberg a message he definitely has fans HERE.

When is the HDDVD camp going to realize, they don't have those cards to play.

Speilberg owns the deck, and he aint budgin!

I guess it shouldn't surprise us, look how the AVS crowd is clamoring over BD+ & BD-J profiles. They try and call BD-Players out as "Obsolete" and try and use scare tacticts that they wont playback the discs containing 1.1 & 2.0 content. Despite being refuted by insiders here, they cling to the Denon Guys loosely worded comment.

The fact is, they are running out of talking points, so the Lies are getting bigger and bigger. But soon, the general public will see through this, and say...man, that HDDVD format...."what a joke"

Hell even Amirm, had a comment before recently "moving positions" where he said in a thread on AVS: "Maybe I'll tell the truth for once"...lol

That can not be overemphasized.

I just hope that the people at Zoetrope aren’t so disenchanted with recent biased online professional posters that they think twice about releasing anything else in high-def on any format in the future.

People like Steven Spielberg and Francis Coppola do care about how true film fans desire things to be presented on the BIG screen (just research how The Outsiders came to fruition….. think some junior high kids from Fresno!) and from there into our home theaters.

Default Then What about Transformers?

If Steven Spielberg likes blu-ray over HD-DVD, as he has stated, then why are we not getting Transformers on blu-ray? It is a Steven Spielberg film, so Paramount exclusive should not apply! Right?

Apparently the stipulation in the PM deal has to do with Films "Directed" by Spielberg, not Produced by.

I referenced 1941 in a Spielberg-related thread a while back and no one bit .

I'd forgotten Spielberg directed Kick the Can in the Twilight Zone movie. I've been conflicted about getting it...as a TZ fan the film seems awfully heavy-handed compared to the best of the series. And then there's the whole helicopter accident during the production of the John Landis-directed segment---am I wrong, or did that completely sour Spielberg's relationship with Landis? I know that after a phenomenal start to his career Landis has done very little in the past 24 years to attract my interest...

These idiots think that catigating Mr. Spielberg is going to make him WANT to release his films on hd-dud? All I can say to them is: keep it up. Maybe these filmakers who are refusing to bow to Paramount, Universal, Toshiba, and Microsoft will hear the idiotic venom coming from these people and they will be pushed completely into the Blu camp.

the practice interrogation:

Lee Stewart : "Excuse me Mr Spielberg, how do you feel about the decisions you have made to NOT release your titles to the HD DVD fans"

RDJam: "well, you see, its all business. As a director and fan of cinema i would like the successor to this format be leaps and bounds better than the current DVD. With BD, there is simply more room for advancement base don storage and bit rates for better audio and video quality at the same time. Worldwide, BD has been the unanimous choice, I would hate to have different formats thorughout the world simply based on how deep a corperations pocket is to buy a stalemate By being in control of this, i am not intending to ignore any fans of my work, i am merely recognizing that putting my support behind one format in th elong run may help in my beliefs that one format, the best format, will succeed"

Lee Stewert: "oh, shut up RDJam hes no going to say that

RDJam: "why not"

Lee Stewert: "because he will be scared"
