Omigod. I thought horseflesh was a techno nerd. Seriously though, I get it, seriously. It's been bought and I got a better price for it that horseflesh did as this wife knows how to haggle.

But is it really that big a deal? And although size does matter to me this thing is HUGE! My house isn't that big. The wall isn't that big! And now he's talking about organic lcds or something ( you're all going to tell me about the 'something' right? ) Good luck to yez.

Default Easier than you'd think

I am interested in buying a new big screen plasma or LCD.

I went with my wife to look at some models.

I first showed her a 58 inch model that we may mount over the fireplace.

I thought she would object to the size or price.

To my surprise, these were her concerns:

1) The frame is glossy black and this would be mounted on an off-white wall
2) The screen itself is black when it is off. Therefore more black to look at.
3) Our current 36 inch Panasonic Tau is too heavy to move. How could we get rid of it?

WOW. None of that would even be a concern to me.

Therefore, I would suggest the following tactics,

1) Don't try to sell her on any technology benefits
2) Find the best looking screen instead
3) Don't show her any movies on it. Pick some of her favorite photos, make a CD of them and bring that to the store. Maybe a wedding photo or if it were my wife, some flower pictures.

You may think I am joking but in fact I am serious.

Good luck

We're guys - it's a very big deal . Don't worry about the organic LED thing - it won't be an affordable reality for a long time yet. Congratulations on the set, and GJ on the haggling too.

My suggestion: Wait 6 more months. These 1080P sets are dropping like rocks. I saw mine for $1,100 cheaper than when I bought it last Oct.

PISSED!!!

"ROI" - Return on Investment. Once this happens prices begin to plummet. Which why I now shy away from "bleeding edge" technology. 1080p/24p sets will be in high demand and encourage the adoption of blu-ray. I'd love to get one, but I know jumping the gun will leave me in want of something soon thereafter.
