No wiki or dictionary type responses please, from your own blu heart!
To me high definition is having the highest picture quality possible with little to no artifacting and graininess. The picture is so detailed that there isn't much you can get fooled by or guess what it is. Also to have the highest audio quality possible, something like uncompressed audio. Everything else is not high definition, but a wannabe high-def. (Yes I do have a 720p tv, but at least I'll be highly prepared whenever I get a 1080p set) I also urge someone to post this question on a hddvd board! Last edited by Maxell; 10-16-2007 at 04:07 AM. |

High Definition is kind of self-explanitory...
PQ that is pristine. No artifacts, no grain, no fuzziness... like looking out a *CLEAN* window. Some people mistake Home Theater for High Definition. Home Theater - Big picture. High Definition - Clear picture. While it is possible to get a clear picture on a good HT, they are not interchangable. |

1080i/P from a technical point of view 720P is HD, but I'm ultimately aiming for a 1080P TV. what I expect from HD is sharp, clean image (I've notice alot of grainy movies) both formats are in their infancy and I expect that in a few years the word grainy will be totally forgotten.

High definition is something that is so pristine in quality that I feel like I'm drawn in to the experience and forget that I'm at home watching it on my TV.
The video doesn't have to be "clean" - it can have grain, as long as it's true film grain and not mosquito noise (a compression artifact). Also, the audio needs to also be top-notch so I can forget the presense of the speakers. enjoy gandalf ![]() |
