I insta-bought it the other day on the PS5 store. Later that night I was kicking myself for not buying it on my Series X instead since I really like what Auto-HDR does for 2D games.

Then I thought about how I should just bought the physical copy from LRG.

I really need to slow down.

The HDR is always on the ps5 unless you turn it off no matter what game.. Kinda annoying have not figured out a way around it or you turn it off in game.

I find it interesting that they somehow retained the SDR look on SDR games even though it's being tendered in HDR space. Although, SDR games I'm really used to looking at, such as MGSV and Dark Souls III, do look a tad richer.

What does the system do when connected to an SDR display? Is it still outputting as HDR? I can turn HDR off for my inputs, but haven't tried it.

If i turn off the HDMI Ultra deep color i bet it will not turn on meh . SDR prob will still be SDR unless your tv can output it.

You can turn off HDR in the PS5 settings. But then for a game that has HDR, you have to turn the HDR back on for the game to support HDR. There's no setting for it to only use HDR when playing a game that supports HDR.
