I have watched the iTunes 4K in parts (24-31 Mbps). Its a mixed bag for sure but not to the extent that is reported in the review above. I didn't look for issues as it was a staggered viewing on my part but due to heavy CGI, some shots looked super fake including HDR which
kicks in during the second half. I don't recall any bothersome black crush on my capable Panasonic GZ OLED. Will give it another go sometime this week. |

Haven’t seen this since the initial blu release, but always remember it looking super shiny and fake, in the best possible way. The CG effects work is enormous in this movie, and will inevitably look dated now - but man they went for it. I suspect it’ll look much like the Blu-ray but with some great HDR.
Tempted to pick it up on Monday. A bubble gum spectacle if ever there was one. |

* I've rewatched that flick roughly couple months ago, on regular 1080p Blu-ray disc. It was impactful...the movie. I recommend; 2K, 4K, whatever...DVD, Laserdisc, VHS tape, YouTube. Last edited by LordoftheRings; 01-16-2021 at 11:15 PM. |

There is one thing I hate about 4K Discs: some people will say "this is awesome" whereas others will say "that's bad"...

I don't get what these people expect. It's the most authentic presentation of the film I've ever seen on home video. Sure, the film stock used then can be argued as not being the prettiest. You don't have to be an expert to get the 80s aesthetic, and appreciate it. |
