Ok well first what model is it? Version 1 or 2?

Second, yes I have had audio cut out of the new version 2 Gold headset. When I turned the headset off & back on it fixed the issue. That might not be the solution for yours.

Please don't take this to be a patronising response, but it's worth asking; is the game audio/chat audio volume pushed all the way to chat? If it is, you won't hear your game. This is the volume control on the front of the left speaker.

Failing that, you could try a reset:

hold down the MUTE button and the VSS button. While still holding down the MUTE button and the VSS button, slide the power switch to position 1 or 2

Lol, my friend did this exact thing. But ye couldn't hear me cause he out game audio 100%. It's a stupid feature but it's in the game. Worth checking to see if friend maybe did this.

Is it this,

https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-G...s%2C214&sr=8-5

?

If so, just throw it in the trash as ďairĒ (you know what you breath) will cause the headset to disintegrate over time.

If it is this,

https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-G...s%2C214&sr=8-2

You have the new model, you can try resetting it or lowering the volume & making sure you press game volume button on left headset repeatedly. Iíve only been using these for about a month so I canít tell yet if they will physically turn into trash over time like the old version. If you do have these, handle with care cuz they are not durable.

So why the hell can a fully functioning headset just go dead with zero warning?

The headband is organic.

You can set a new pair of these on a stand & never use them. They will eventually combust.

Forgot to mention,

On the USB dongle itself there is a tiny hole. If you get a paper clip or anything similarly small, try pressing the button. Hold it on the hole for 3 seconds. That will reset the USB dongle back to factory default.
