The only good films they made are the two TCM, anything else... not so good.

This is a thing I never thought I hear.

I liked them. But to most people they were the hatred of most existence

I liked that too. But again never saw the original. And only that loosely based "sequel" with Bella Thorne.

Default well...

...I actually found most of their films to be extremely lacking, and I certainly don't agree that their "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" remake was in any way, shape or form better than Tobe Hooper's all-time horror classic...

However, having said that... and in the interest of giving credit where credit is rightfully due... let me just say that their reinterpretation of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (more as suspense/thriller and less as horror) was an extremely entertaining film in its own right. It had a genuinely oppressive sense of pure, unrelentingly dread from start to finish. So much so, that I found myself totally immersed within the discomforting nature of the film. R. Lee Ermey's scenes come immediately to mind.

I honestly think the truth about modern horror is simply that foreign cinema is currently producing better films within the genre... and they have been for the past decade or two... and I don't think the answer is for us to continue making sad, lackluster and otherwise uninspired horror film remakes.... foreign or domestic...
