Default Happy 25th Anniversary to Nightmare Before Christmas

25 Years ago on October 13th 1993. The Nightmare before Christmas came out. Its got Christmas and Halloween and amazing stop motion. Great characters like Jack Sally Oogie Boogey Sandy Claws The Mayor Lock Shock and Barrel. Also catchy songs.

Funny enough I didn't grow up with it I became a fan much later.

With all the constant re-releases, it's probably the most profitable stop-motion motion picture of all time!!

For some reason I thought this was older, and that James and the Giant Peach was around 25 years old...

I remember reading that Danny Elfman had throat cancer, which is why he left the music business to become a composer. So I was very surprised to read that he did all the singing for Jack in this movie.

It's crazy to think how much of a legacy it has after all these years! For a movie barely over an hour long, it's churned out merchandise constantly for a solid 25 years. Not too shabby. And well deserved- one of the most charming, unique, fun stories I can recall. It was a total passion project, and you can tell. Say what you will about Burton and his films since, NBX is a masterpiece.

I like this movie fine, but I wish I could love it like everyone else seems to.
Perhaps it's because never watched it as a kid.
My mother wouldn't let me see it because, much like Pokemon and Harry Potter, it was "Anti-Christian".

My parents only let me watch it because my older sister loved it, but they were concerned because it was "emo" and "gothic". They saw that the Devil was in the movie and thought it took place in Hell. Ironic, considering the Devil walks around the entire movie with the happiest grin on his face.

Saw this opening night and I liked it. The movie was supposed to be a Disney release in December, but the executives were very nervous about the content. It was moved to October, released by Touchstone Pictures (their "more adult" distribution company), and it didn't get much publicity. It also didn't set the box office on fire initially. This film, and The Crow, are why we have Hot Topic...

No doubt the film I've seen most times in my life.
I watch it on every Halloween night, and it is the first film I buy with each new technology: it was my first VHS, my first DVD, my first bluray and first 3D bluray.

I will never thank enough everyone involved in making this!

Thanks for the heads up! It's tempting- I have a buttload of points saved up. If they put up Oogie and Lock/Shock/Barrel, I may bite.
