I was able to create the chart

Get the dips below 10 Mbps at the end but there seems to me quite a few in between.

It's probably not there when played back properly on a HDR display.

The chroma noise might be fixed with the DV layer too.

The FEL DV layer is bit-starved as well: 3 mbit/s.

Every scene on Mars seems to drop to crazy-low bitrates. It seems like the encoder recognizes those optical effects as static objects, I don't know

Is it just that one scene or any other scenes affected?

What's the timestamp please?

Just click on the link I posted above, you can check every time the bitrate reaches 10 mbps or under.

The first scene after the credits is on Mars and has the problem for example

I used a command-line program to extract the data. Then the site datawrapper.de to import the CSV file and chart it...

And the thing is, the greatest sins of these SC presentations aren't revealed by caps alone. It's in motion when you see how the grain is actually moving that the fragility becomes apparent.

You can already tell there's gonna be some wicked posterisation in the scene shown in Cap 1.

Yep, as I once said before: It's a like wonderful, bakery-made cake with dogshit for frosting.

At 43:19 the bitrate is 1.4 mbit/s, that's DiVX quality....

In my opinion this disc should be recalled (no pun intended )

It's simply unaccepttable even for DVD standards, let alone UHD 4K

So it's a DV or die disc?

DV can't fix a botched encode like this. It's not some magical thing
