Is Sunrise carrying an import of the Cornetto Trilogy in 4K?

For what it's worth, I called up Bay Street Video and they said to import it'd be over 80 bucks. And I thought WowHD's $66 was insane.

Thanks E One.

You have to download the sunrise app and snap/ upload any receipts you get for purchases. Get 1 stamp for every $20 you spend, get a $5 coupon for every 15 stamps ($300). Tim's card, it ain't

It is worse than that! You get 1 stamp for every $20 spent on an individual receipt. Any amount above that multiple of $20 is discarded (i.e. you can't bank it towards your next stamp). For example, if you buy $50 worth of stuff, you get two stamps (2 x $20), the remaining $10 is burned. I think that's how it works.

So it is more likely you'll end up spending $400+ before you earn that $5 off coupon.

The Cornetto set isn't available here as the rights to The World's End are with eOne. Both Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz were controlled under Alliance back in the day (Rogue Pictures deal), but I believe Universal handles both for Canada.

Ah ok. I have the app but not even close to the $5 coupon.

I thought there might have been another coupon floating around. I think last year they had a coupon booklet of some sort.

I think you also got a $5.00 coupon when you first signed up to the online app thing.

Only if their distributors do. So they have Arrow & Shout releases which are technically imports, but Arrow obtained through Unobsturcted View and Shout through Universal. There's no way Universal Canada would import a Universal USA set so Sunrise could sell.

I have ordered many titles from Cinema 1 like that, would Sunrise for sure not be the same? The fact that even Bay Street Video can order it suggests to me that Sunrise could, but given the fact they'd have to sell it for 80 bucks means they probably won't.

And most stores should have figured out by now that E One ain't gonna bring it to Canada. The guy I talked to at BSV laughed and agreed with me when I said that to him.

I'm in Alberta and have no idea what Cinema 1 and Bay Street Video are. I assume they're local shops? A lot of them have accounts with the same online stores we can order from, showing they're just an unnecessary middle man.

Well, I’ll be darned, I finally found something at Sunrise. Picked up a copy of Who’s Harry Crumb for 13.99 and got a 4.99 discount on it.

Also picked up They Live for 23.99 and The Exorcist (lenticular) for 8.00

Finally seeing some ok-decent pricing in store! Happy to support retailers when I can.

Bay Street Video is a local shop in downtown Toronto that caters to movie lovers. They used to be a rental store back in the 90s. I haven't been there since.

Cinema 1 is a chain, I believe. I have only seen one or two locations in Hamilton Lime Ridge Mall and I think Burlington Mall? They are a retail chain that is overall pretty expensive. However, they do have good sales from time to time and they are not always synced with other major retailers so sometimes you will see a title on sale there that isn't on sale anywhere else.

The majority of their stuff is expensive, but they have a huge selection of both new and catalog titles. They are not too different from Sunrise or the old HMV.

I was there 2 years ago; it was my first visit and likely my last.

I have not seen a Canadian shop with such an extensive Criterion Collection; pretty much a whole wall dedicated to it. Hundreds of titles.

However, the price is NOT great. There are much better deals online. On top of that, I have to drive 2 hrs, park, take subway, etc. so it's almost a whole day thing.

It would be amazing to have a store like that within walking distance or about 30 minute travel.

Oh yes, back to Sunrise deals … haven't seen one lately.

In my local Sunrise, they've took out all of the 4k cases OUT of the cover and is only displaying the cover on the racks. Maybe there are a lot of missing/stolen 4K's?!? It just took all the giddiness out of the physical shopping experience.
