The Maiden Japan releases are definitely OOP. I already have their first release (with its gorgeous cover), but it definitely deserves to stay in print. A reissue of the OVAs would be nice too. AnimEigo’s DVDs are an ancient release from 2001.

While it seemed unlikely when I asked back 18 months or so, I do hope there is a chance Golgo 13: Queen Bee is eventually released. Would love to have it next to the first film on Blu-ray.

I'm expecting Manyuu Hikenchou to end up with Media Blasters instead, especially with them seemingly also looking into Chu-Bra!! (via an illegal streaming site instead of on Crunchyroll...). It still blows my mind that show was completely ignored back in the day.

ALL Section23 DVDs are OOP except for Grave of the Fireflies for obvious reasons. Plenty of those DVD-only titles are still on HIDIVE, though Vampire Princess Miyu isn't one of them.

Would be nice if Sentai would get Blu-ray rights for many of the DVD-only titles, and then as they abandoned SDBD, just simply upscale the stuff that have no Blu-rays in Japan. They're already upscaling things like Gargoyle of Yoshinaga House, NANA, Kaiji S1, and Earl and Fairy (they have digital rights only).

On a similar note, looks like RightStuf is also letting all of their DVD-only titles go OOP and languish streaming-only.

More Case Closed - the Funimation movies or episodes in particular. Not expecting the series to get an announcement but I can dream. The movies in HD with the Funi dub would be awesome. 50 episodes into my rewatch on Crunchyroll and it's got me dying for these older episodes on Blu-ray.

Funimation still has the rights to the TV series, as I'm sure you're already aware. Curiously, Funimation hasn't done an "Essentials" or "Classics" release of that IP which is what they usually do when they have a Blu Ray version of a show that they have the rights for.

The only blu ray release Funimation has done for their Guyver is the one way back in 2010.

It's possible they might let that license expire, or it might be expired already and nobody knows yet, they've had it since Funimation rescued it from ADV back in the DVD singles days.

Would love to see Welcome to the N-H-K or Neo-Tokyo get rescued. I know Funimation had rescued N-H-K, but their DVD release is OOP. So maybe someone can finally give it a Blu-ray release.

They’re actually talking about the Out of Control 1986 OVA and the Bio-Booster Armor 1989-92 OVA series.

Also FUNimation didn't really "rescue" it, it was more the Sojitz deal imploded and FUNimation got it when Sojitz was trying to find someone to dump all those shows onto. They got the license about 8 months after ADV released Volume 7.

Anyway, as mentioned people were talking about the OVAs and such from the 1990s which are separate productions and have completely different production committees from the Guyver TV series. Said OVAs are also very long OOP.

Know they still had digital rights (that didn’t stop Discotek from rescuing Sergeant Frog’s physical rights) but I had no idea Funimation still had physical rights. Gotta say I’m really disappointed they still have them.

FUNimation rarely lets things go and tends to keep them for a long time, so keep that in mind. Some of the rescues Discotek did only happened because TMS blocked FUNimation from renewing the rights to titles like The Woman Called Fujiko Mine and KenIchi.
