Thanks! I will! BenQ is the least expensive 3D Projectors with a lamp that I'm looking at. Any 3D 1080p LED projectors I should look at?

If 3D is your primary concern, I'd suggest looking at Optoma projectors. I upgraded to a BenQ HT3550 from an Optoma HD143X this year and while as a whole the BenQ is by far the better projector, I have to admit the Optoma's 3D performance was superior. BenQ's 3D isn't bad or I wouldn't have kept it, but still, the much less expensive Optoma did it better. Also the BenQ is DLP Link only where the Optoma also had a 3D sync vesa port. DLP Link is a bit annoying for anything that switches between 2D and 3D (like The Mask) because you have to wear the glasses the entire time.

Optoma's DMD chip failures have prevented me from buying any Optoma projector. I don't have that problem with Benq. Has Optoma fixed their DMD chips?

Well, any brand has their share of failures. I wouldn't worry about it personally. My BenQ is actually a replacement as the first was defective right out of the box. I've never heard of any specific issues with Optoma's chips though I'm sure it happens. Just the way it goes with electronics.

I have an Optoma HD25E with the 3D sync vesa (connected with a Optoma BG-BC100B transmitter) which I'm very happy with. I'm wondering what newer projector I could upgrade to for 3d that still has a 3D sync output- I have a lot invested in my 14 pair of active 3D glasses and would like to find a compatible projector. This uses zigbee not blutooth frequencies for transmission. Any ideas? especially maybe a 4K projector?

As far as I know, none of the newest DLP models have 3D sync ports. It's rather unfortunate that they've been eliminated. I guess we're lucky they continue to support 3D in any form, but it would be nice to have that option. For RF 3D support I think it's down to Epson and Sony.

I have seen 3D optical Modulators that allow you to view 3D movies from an active 3D projector using passive 3D glasses. There are a few Youtube videos about them. The modulators require 3D Sync port.

I have narrowed down my 3D FHD projector brand choices to Bulbs: Benq LED: Viewsonic and XGIMI. The Benq models MH530FHD, W1070, The LED Viewsonic M2 and XGIMI Mogo Pro and Mogo Pro+

I've heard ( haven't seen) that Viewsonic 3D is dimmer than other brands. Sure wish there was a 3D shootout comparing 3D on the various models. Sadly, most so-called professional "reviewers" with expensive systems dont even own a pair of 3D glasses!

I have a Benq MW519 720p 3D, a Vankyo Burger 101 854*480p 3D projectors. I have a Darbee 5000s Video enhancer I can use to enhance the 3D.I'll do a comparison video of the 3D.

I have bought the Viewsonic M2 LED FHD 3D Projector from Amazon for $547.00 I like the image quality. Though getting 3D to work is a chore. But, once the 3D is working. It is quite good for me. Any 3D glasses recommends for this projector?

Default Going projector in 2021

Hi everyone,

I had to leave my 73" Mitsubishi with my family after having to do an abrupt move and will probably end up moving back. There are plenty of Mitsubishi 3d tvs around here for sale via ads for $75-$100 and even though I'm about to buy one, I'd like to get a projector too. Mainly because these 73" TVs can take up the majority of a Uhaul van and a ton of space in a POD.

So, I'll need a projector, screen, and something for sound, right? I've always just used the TV speakers and never owned a surround system aside from the Dolby Pro Logic one my dad bought in 1994. Guess different projectors require different glasses too?

Are these 4k projectors really that much better? I've read about the upscaling and how the 4k LG 3DTvs with passive glasses were the pinnacle of home 3D. Couldn't afford one when they were available and never seen a used one.

3D in the real Imax at Cinemark was the best 3D I ever saw. On movies like Dr. Strange, it was like being in the movie. Seeing Real3D in a smaller theater could be a letdown.

Budget-wise, I'd be glad to stay under $1500, but since I don't buy much for entertainment these days, I'd go higher.

Thanks for any information.

1080p is good.

4K is great for projection in general.

Epson projectors have a lot of happy users.

I've never seen the appeal of short throw or ultra short through but they were not popular way back when. And they are pretty handy now in terms of ease of setup and the screen is often paired for them specifically.

I've been using projector as my main display since getting started with them in 1999.

I would say get the newer projector over other concerns and if there's a HT showroom place near you see a few models in person.

I’ve enjoyed my GT1080HDR. It’s 1080P but it does HDR and takes 4K input. $800 and that leaves plenty for a screen and audio.

If you don't want to DIY a screen then silver ticket screen is usually the good solution.

Thanks for all the tips. Well the Mitsubishi I picked up last night was made in 2011, but needs checkerboard still. I was just very puzzled as to why this LG 3D player I picked up for $5 at a church sale was still saying my TV was not 3D. WD-73C10 is the model. Came with the stand designed for it that it slides right into. That alone was probably worth the $100 I spent. I keep reading how checkerboard is supposed to be inferior and all this.

Beavis and Butthead doesn't look so hot up close, but the Last Action Hero BD looked awesome from 12-15 feet away approx. When I watched 3D before, I watched from probably over 20 feet away to avoid eye strain. Not sure any real loss of resolution would matter a lot from there. When I played a SBS 3D of Finest Hours, I was amazed at how it was basically the same quality as my BDs.

Some have argued that checkerboard is full resolution and some have not. Some say you need 4k upscaling to get the best home 3D. Luckily I have a Panasonic 3d player I can have shipped to me. Got it in 2011 when I bought the newer Mitsubishi I left behind.

Guess I'll just use this until I get a projector setup.

BenQ has some article that says projectors often have very good audio and don't need an external sound system. Do you guys agree?

I'd be doing a simple setup of putting the projector on something and using a screen that doesn't need to be mounted to anything.

$100 bucks for a 120Hz 1080p 73" TV with 3D capabilities? Until I read your post I did not know this was possible...and, glancing at local sales, my local area does not think it is possible either.

I still have 2 of those Mitsubishi tvs an 82” and a 65”. My 65” is a C9 model and It requires a 3D box to work with it, I am not sure if the C10 came with the box already incorporated to the tv main board but my 82” that is a 2011 model has it and it only works on hdmi1.
