I read the booklet. Several of the pieces were engaging. But again, the photos were thrown into the middle, with no sequence of relevance to themselves nor the text.

So apologies for not being technically accurate (I could have spent more time on my post), but my opinion still stands. From a design perspective on a pricey box set it is really lacking. IMHO of course.

Glad you are so pleased. I am really pleased with the discs (art on them aside), but not the package.
I do like those photos though, it's weird seeing the people and locations of Martin look so crisp and colourful after having lived with the best-we-could-do-with-what-we-had-but-still-rather-grotty 4K transfer over the last couple of years.

...which is exactly my complaint. You can't READ the track titles while actually listening to the disc.

I've been buying records since the late 70s and never troubled myself with track names. If you did feel you needed to have the name in your head while you listen to the track, just use your phone to take a photo of the track list before putting the CD in the player.

The book is over a HUNDRED PAGES long...they couldn't have allotted ONE of them for the track titles?!

I read in this thread that the packaging was blank on the inside so you can maybe add them in marker?

https://www.soundtrackcollector.com/title/36367/Martin

P.S. I would not be making this joke had I not already bought the Perseverance Records soundtrack release

I agree the photos are great. The character shot of Father Romero is my favorite, but appreciate all the behind-the scenes stuff. But I get what you're saying about their look compared to the film.

I also appreciate the various theatrical posters after the stills, though Martin looks more like Anthony Perkins than John Amplas in the Italian onesheet.

I just watched this for the first. Such a curious movie. I liked it alot, but I may need to think about it a few days.

I noticed this UHD doesn't have Dolby Vision. Is there any particular reason?

I love the movie. Always have. It looks great in some shots, others not so much. That's to be expected, though.

The grade was probably sat there for a couple years! Hence HDR10+ when no one uses HDR10+ anymore (unless they're being stubborn and refusing to admit it's as good as dead).

At the start of the movie, I thought it looked very rough, but I kind of forgot about it as the movie went on.

Very special movie indeed.

The big question remains for me... was Martin really Nosferatu? I kind of like to think that maybe he was. :-)

The audience can decide. Either way, he killed people.

Romero himself would say he was just all messed up, and Cuda is too.

Christina had a lucky escape from both of them, either way!

Yep, oddboxes take pretty much reflects my opinion on the characters (Spoilers ahead!):
[Show spoiler]Cuda and Martin both were insane and Martin, although arguably on the verge of some sort of mental recovery prior to the movie's conclusion (check out his monologue just before the impaling) is killed as some sort of poetic justice, considering his earlier crimes. So the movie to me is a lot closer to "Henry-Portrait of a serial killer" than "Dracula", meaning there ARE people being killed but there is nothing supernatural about it, rather the whole thing is pretty straight and could probably take place just the way it is portrayed (initial drugging of the victims and then Martin has his way with them...). Making it even scarier! With that said, I really dig the B&W "flashbacks", as they provide a deeper atmosphere!

I had a similar experience. The first scene on the train looks very grainy and noisy. By the time I got into the next scene, I was so interested in where the story was going I stopped noticing the quality of the film stock. The ambiguity throughout the movie up until the ending also got me thinking a lot more about the movie after watching it.

It got interested in the time in Romero’s career between Night and Dawn, and I since finally watched and then ordered the Arrow release of Season of the Witch.

Are you saying that HDR10 is good as dead?

Good news folks!

The 3hr print of Martin is in good hands. I'm currently at Living Dead Weekend at the Martin Panel and they said it's in good hands and will be able to be viewed at the Pittsburgh Archive. Don't know about home video. But I'm going to ask.

Follow up. Bad News Folks!

I asked, it will only be available to be privately screened at the Pittsburgh Archive. They would like it to be available, but said it's not possible. They said anyone can go screen it, but only at the facility. No home video/streaming will be available as much as they'd like it to be.

Why are the rights holders being such Jeremy Hunts over not allowing it to be released on DVD/BD etc.
