Curious to what people would recommend for a 65" TV (X950H, X900H, TCL 2020 6-Series, Hisense H9G). Would mainly be used for watching 4K movies and sports. Money isn't an issue.

Head's up! Costco's new Member Savings book lists the X90CH (same as the X900H) at $969.99. The sale starts Sept. 30, so I expect other major sellers will drop their price, too. Personally, I almost hit the floor when I read it in the savings book because I ordered it from Costco for $1169.99 just 12 days ago! You can bet I will be requesting a price adjustment on the 30th! That's $200 (plus tax) difference!!!!!

Wow nice. Been waiting for a sale on this TV.

I'm assuming you are in the US? Not in the Canadian ad.

U.S. And it wasn't an ad. It is in the monthly "Member-Only Savings" booklet. I also just noticed they have the entire booklet copied in slickdeals (the Sony and an LG are pretty close to the top): https://slickdeals.net/article/buyin...n-book/#Coupon

Scored one this morning from Amazon for $998. Walmart.com had it for the same price. Looks like it’s back up to $1,398 on both now though.

Hadn't seen the Costco deal, but I had over $600 in Amazon credit I'd been hoarding to get a TV this fall anyway (Amazon Visa Rewards and some gift cards).

Congrats. Great TV. And it looks like Amazon has it back down for $998. I am guessing they started the sale early. (By the way, using whatever points you have available is always good. A few years ago, I had built up about $1200 in points for misc things I sold to Amazon Trade and I used it on a new TV.)

Got the Sony 65X90CH from Costco (now at $969.99) and I am really happy with it! Great picture, solid blacks. I am glad it has the 4 HDMI ports, including the ARC. Really makes movie watching terrific!

I haven't even really done any adjusting to the color or other levels. It seems perfect right out of the box.

Picked up the Sony X900H for 900 yesterday on a Prime Day sale. So far so good. Has a very nice picture once you turn off the motion flow crap.

Best Buy STILL has the 65" for $999, just $50 more than the 55". Seems to be more of a semi-permanent price adjustment than a sale. Interested in seeing what is up for Black Friday on this TV then. I also want to see how it handles PS5. Needs those key updates still.

For some odd reason, the 2.1 update DID NOT come with the VRR support and a couple of other key PS5/XSX features. Also seems to have broken a bunch of other settings. There are concerns with the size of this update that there won't be room for future updates without taking away other things (as seems to be what has happened here, with limited data storage on the TV itself.)

How about they get rid of the bullshit advertisements on Android TV that comes with it now that could free up some room. I dont need suggested apps and I sure as hell dont need Android TV telling me about suggested Android TV downloads.

However, this is specified in the specifications with a subsequent update. We must hope that it will be done later for the VRR and ALLM.

With it all connected under the one password program through google, this is unlikely. Unless there are settings that can be turned off like there are on Fire TV, etc. that disable data collecting. I have not seen a guide on turning android TV data off, though I haven't looked, either.

XH90/ X900H is Sony's First TV-Led Dolby Vision TV After Firmware Update

The latest firmware update which added 4K@120Hz support on the Sony XH90/ X900H 4K LED LCD television has also added regular Dolby Vision support, also known as TV-led or display-led Dolby Vision. This makes the Bravia XH90/ X900H the first TV from Sony to not exclusively use low-latency Dolby Vision (LLDV).

Thanks to Belgian AV journalist Eric Beecksman for the heads up:

I’ve had this TV for a few months now but haven’t streamed a ton of HDR content (and it’s my first TV with actual HDR). I recently watched Haunting of Hill House on Netflix, and I feel like there were times where it was too dark (and it’s already a dark show) on the Dolby Vision Dark setting. However toggling to “bright” and back to “dark” seemed to “wake up” the image in the dark setting. Colors seemed to pop more and visibility was much higher. I switched over to the Apple TV app on the tv and tried out the 4K Dolby vision version of La La Land and it seemed like a similar phenomena. Is this something that’s normal or is my brain playing tricks on me... especially seeing that the firmware update seems to have added a Fuller Dolby Vision capability to it?
