After two attempts with the TCL 8-series -- stunning PQ, but it was plagued with horrible audio lags that I couldn't fix -- I just ordered the X900 today. Crossing my fingers it'll be a good purchase.

although i do not have 4k gaming yet, other than that i love this TV. Vincent exposed Sony 120 blur "fix" by adding a sharp filter. make sure your 2.1 cables are certified.

Dolby Vision TV-Led vs Player-Led Comparison: Which is Better?
We compare TV-led Dolby Vision vs player-led Dolby Vision using two Sony XH90 (also known as the BRAVIA X900H in the USA) 4K LED LCD TVs, two OPPO 203 4K Blu-ray players, as well as two Spears & Munsil UHD HDR Benchmark disc.

Player-led Dolby Vision is also known as low-latency or source-led Dolby Vision.

The differences are more obvious in person than what's captured on camera, since we had to slightly defocus the zoomed-in shots to avoid introducing moiré to our footage.

Got myself a 65 inch XH92 (same as the XH90 but with adjustable feet to fit smaller TV stands) in the Boxing Day sale, Ł300 off the Ł1299 price.

Really happy with the it so far, very nice upgrade from my old Sony 55 inch X8509C. Fantastic picture quality, amazing black levels for an LED, HDR and Dolby Vision look really good and the OS is nice and responsive.

Hopefully Sony don't take too long to release the VRR update for gaming.

Had an odd problem with my 900h this morning. My Netflix app (used yesterday), Prime app (used a week ago) and my Shudder app weren’t working. I tried to boot them up and just got a black screen.
Hbo Max and Disney + both work fine.
Has anyone else experienced this? I had to head to work so I couldn’t try much. I force closed the app an cleared the data. I’d rather not reset the wholetv but if I gotta, I gotta.

Wish I could help you. I bought the 85 inch several months back and honestly haven't used any of the apps from my TV until this past week. Finally got some time off work and none of the apps work properly on my set. I have no sound coming through the TV to my Denon. Thats another problem. I just don't understand why the apps will not work. Its like my internet is not powerful enough. The apps load and then just get all choppy. Ive tried ethernet and wifi. Netflix, apple tv, vudu, even sling tv is just choppy and eventually stops. Ive been using my PS4 and apple tv unit to control all my smart needs. This pisses me off to say the least and I don't currently have time to set a day to focus on it entirely. Not expecting any help but just decided to post in case someone were to have had or no someone that was having these same problems and might could point me in the right direction. I will contact Sony if I absolutely have to.

Unfortunately almost all smart TVs suffer this problem. The only solution I have seen is to unplug and plug your TV back in. Most people just use something like a fire stick or chromecast, etc., instead of their TVs smart system any more.

Unplugging it worked. Thanks for the tip!

So there's some talk about VRR and ALLM not coming to this TV anymore after it was removed from one of Sony's US sites (although it still shows on others) which would suck if true as many people got this TV as they advertise it as PS5 Ready with VRR being an upcoming feature.

Rtings.com said they are going to look into the matter to see if they can find out if this is false.

Sony support updated 1 page January 5th.

Every other page from most countries still list it as coming via firmware. Sony’s move.

I have had mine just under a month. This won’t make me return mine if true.

Yeah just the one Sony site at the moment and some people have been posting Sony customer service responses, some saying it's not getting the update now, while others say it's still coming, so bit of confusion.

Fingers crossed it is just a mistake because if not, it's a bit naughty of Sony to be advertising VRR and ALLM as a feature all the way from release until Christmas, to get sales in from gamers wanting a new TV for their new PS5 and then silently remove the feature just after Christmas.

VRR is the big one.

Alls ALLM does is automatically put the picture preset into Game Mode. Sony 900H already does this with PS5.

I was interested in VRR but PS5 doesn’t support it yet. Developers have to fix screen tear anyway on their games that “tear”. So far only 1 game had this issue & it has been fixed last month.

I don’t trust “randoms” on the Internet saying we talked & this is what Sony told us. I’ll wait for an official Sony update before reserving judgement.

Well that escalated quickly.

Youtuber’s need to dig a bit deeper before posting videos like “Stop the FOMO” who claims he hasn’t been able to find any videos from Sony regarding the HDMI 2.1 features for the 900H. So did Sony magically pull all their videos down which mention VRR?

Spoiler alert. They haven’t. 1:50 time stamp.

Yeah that Stop the FOMO video is typical click bait crap.

There's a good chance this is probably a mistake and being blown out of proportion by people on the net but there's always a small chance it's real, so it will be good to get confirmation.

My guess is they are still working on it, as PS5 still hasn't got VRR yet and even the 2021 TV's seem to need a firmware update to activate it, so it's probably delayed due to the pandemic situation.

It’s also possible both the 900H & PS5 are limited to 32GB/s on a hardware level. Meaning anyone who owns a PS5 will have to wait & re-buy a re-vision model if they really want VRR.

The 900H has its share of bugs with HDMI 3&4 ports. Mainly sync issues with devices connected causing audio dropout problems.. (not A/V sync) As well as devices randomly turning on after you have manually powered them off.

If I switch inputs to either 3 or 4, the TV automatically turns on said device connected. Also if I turn off the TV, sometimes the TV will randomly power on my PS5 or Apple TV 4K.

Hopefully Sony can at minimum fix these issues with firmware. I’m happy with the PQ I get from the 900H. Dolby Vision looks great, as does Call of Duty game running at around 12-1400p@120hz.

I've asked Robert to reach out to Sony for comment. I am sure his Sony rep can officially clarify.

Good stuff

Thanks for any info Rob. I know you have had talks with “FOMO” I provided proof Sony hasn’t dropped mention of VRR with X900H marketing.
