So i e-mailed velodyne at service@velodyne.com about a week ago in regards to where to send the back of the sub and whatnot and haven't heard a peep from them, so i decided to e-mail again...not even a mouse squeak was heard back...for anyone trying to e-mail them dont waste your time just go by phone as i will be doing soon. I just dont want to part with the sub for the time it will take to service it. Has anyone sent their sub in to velodyne yet?...if so what was your experience?

Hi Velodyner's!
I was offered a mint condition CHT-10 for $150. Yeah, it's older but it's flawless both cosmetically and operationally. It will replace my Sony SA-W2500. To be quite honest, when I listened to it I didn't notice a big difference between the two but then again I didn't really give it too long a listen and I'm no audiophile. Is this a good buy? Any advice or feedback would be appreciated. Thanks! |

By the way, if anyone has a VDR12 (that doesn't pop, =P) that they are otherwise dissatisfied with, I am interested in picking up another BV model for my living room. Last week futureshop had 10 up on their website, which went faster than I could clear off my mastercard and now the model seems to be completely purged from their system, unfortunately. Fire me a PM and we can chat.
I'm being picky only because I already have a BV model and I'm OCD for symmetry. I'll probably take a good deal on a non BV regardless though. =) Last edited by kaiserkreb; 02-25-2010 at 06:25 PM. |

I have placed this post in the Receivers thread before I noticed this thread, which I found it may be a better place for me to seek advice.
I have just purchased a Velodyne 8" SPL-800R sub to replace my 12-year old Klipsch sub. I'm using Onkyo NR3007. My question is: what is the proper procedures to do the Audyssey calibration in the AVR meanwhile I would like to take the advantage of the sub's built-in EQ system? I'm investigating the pros and cons of these 2 approaches: (1) First turn on the Velodyne sub. Perform auto-EQ using its microphone. Turn off the sub. Perform the Audyssey calibration in the AVR (so it will detect no SW channel). Manually change the SW settings in the AVR from "No" to "Yes". Change the cross-over frequencies of all other channels to 80 - 100Hz (depends on the individual value reported by AVR). Finally fine-tune the volume level of the sub to match with other channels. The problem I encountered here is: I don't know how to set the SW distance - which should correct the time delay caused by the sub itself (so usually it is larger than the physical distance of the sub). (2) Turn on the Velodyne sub. Perform auto-EQ using its microphone. Keep the sub turned on, and perform the Audyssey calibration in the AVR (so it will detect the SW and include it in the calibration process). Then finally change the cross-over frequencies of all channels (except SW) to 80 - 100Hz. The issue I foresee here is a double-EQ process - first of all the AVR applies the Audyssey curve to the SW channel, and subsequently the sub applies its calibration curve to the received signal. Is it bad? Or good? Which option is better? Or is there any other option that you will recommend? |

You should use the Auto EQ system in your Velodyne first. Later, run Audyssey and adjust your crossover settings as necessary. Having the EQ on the sub helps flatten the response of the subwoofer and adding Audyssey will help make the response even flatter for multiple positions.

For Everyone that purchased the VDR12 during boxing week, how are you liking the sub now? I thought we all had quite some time to listen and get used to it.
I love my duals, elated i went with these because they have made my music and movie experience so much more passionate ![]() They hit hard and are very clean in detail on the low frequencies Last edited by alton_1014; 06-03-2010 at 06:12 PM. Reason: to add more information |

Mine is SPL-1000R.
Compact size, robust built, excellent bass punch, high power digital amplifer (1000 watts) and most of all, the incorporation of room bass correction/equalization giving you the best performance within your listening area. Love it! |

Finally got mine to pop!
![]() Previous setup was volume 50/100 and sub gain on AVR at -3 3 Velodyne VDR12s "NOT" BV would shake the house. New setup was Volume at 70/100 AVR at +0.5 gain running only 2 Velodynes and a JL dual 10 HT Sub Turned up the volume of the Velodynes only to keep up with the new JL sub Only on the hard hitting long rumbling scenes I'll get one pop. So now my settings are 2 Velodynes and the JL dual 10 sub Velodynes at 40/100 and AVR at 0 JL sub at +4 gain Shakes the upstairs so much that stuff falls off the shelf. I think I need to turn it down. Gonna be selling that 3rd Velodyne now..... So I think the best thing to do if you have the popping phenomenon is to turn down the gain on the sub and up the gain on your AVR. hope that helps Last edited by Rsquad911; 09-10-2010 at 04:43 AM. |

Man i am surprised by the velodyne,s performance in our space, put on transformers revenge of the fallen and the scene where the fallen is using the magnetized weapon scared the crap out of me as i was starting to lean back in my chair.
