That's a shame. I would have liked a UV copy for days when you're working away

I will say one thing, I applaud Funimation for putting 23 episodes on here. I hate when they do 13 episode sets to squeeze profits and then a season/collection release. So I'm glad they got their crap together, for at least this release, and are making these full sets.

I'm watching this for the first time now on Toonami. I watched the original DBZ on Toonami back in the day. But never the Kai version. What exactly is the difference?

Kai removes unnecessary filler.

Yea, I prefer DBZ uncut but Kai is a nice way to breeze through the arcs every now and then. I'm still hopeful that we will eventually get Dragon Ball on blu-ray though as I much prefer it over DBZ.

Seems like Funimation just can't put out a long-form DB release without some kind of inconsistency... Really wish we could have gotten Kai Buu in 4:3, but damn, I guess everything can't be perfect

In this case, its not FUNimation's fault.

It looks like they're trying to pump out these Kai releases as soon as they can to make way for Super. I predict that the third and final Kai volume will be released in June, and Super Set 1 (probably just 13 episodes) will land in August or September.

Knowing FUNimation and the crap they pull, after these three parts there will be a release that combines them all. So I'll wait for that.
The best number is 73. Why? 73 is the 21st prime number. Its mirror, 37, is the 12th and its mirror, 21, is the product of multiplying 7 and 3... and in binary 73 is a palindrome, 1001001, which backwards is 1001001.
Films I'd like to see on Blu-Ray Disc:
Scarface (1932)
ABC Weekend Specials (1977–1995) [TV Movies]

I don’t believe anyone that refuses to post a source, they just like spreading FUD.
If you're not part of the solution, you’re part of the precipitate.

Too bad it is going to be a while before they get to the Super episodes that matter.

Ooh, finally! I like Kai but I find the sluggish pace of the unedited series absolutely unbearable, so I never watched the remainder of the show through the uncut version. I'm excited to finally see how DBZ ends.

So here is what I deduced:

-The Buu Saga, according to Wikipedia and the Funimation site, includes episodes 99-159
-Part One includes episodes 99-121 (23 episodes)
-Part Two includes episodes 122-144 (23 episodes)

So apparently Part Three will include only 15 episodes, episodes 145-159.

Quote:
While known in Japan as simply Dragon Ball Kai, Toei elected to re-brand the series as Dragon Ball Z Kai for its international distribution, to help distinguish it as a new series based on the globally famous Dragon Ball Z series. Aside from any international censoring or editing, the series was distributed internationally just as it had originally aired in Japan. Following the series’ premature end in 2011 with the conclusion of the Cell arc, international distributors requested Toei continue the series on into the Majin Boo arc, as there was still a demand for it amongst international fans. Toei began production of a 69 episode final arc of the series, giving it the sub-title “The Final Chapters”, with the intention that it would only be distributed internationally. Although it would be bypassing the Japanese market, the series was fully produced with an original musical score and recorded Japanese dialogue.

At some point during or after the series’ production, Fuji TV approached Toei requesting a replacement series for the waning Toriko anime. With Toei having a newly produced series already in hand, it was decided that Dragon Ball Kai would return to retake its old time slot on Fuji TV after all. However, due to constraints allotted by Fuji TV, the already produced 69 episode Majin Boo arc would need to be cut down to fit within a year’s broadcast time. Toei obliged and went back to the cutting room floor, creating two distinctly separate versions of the Majin Boo arc with differing episode counts. The international version of the series remained as it was originally produced, with 69 episodes, and began being distributed in international markets in June 2014 shortly after the shortened Japanese series began its broadcast in Japan.

With two versions of the Majin Boo arc, the international version will be documented separately within this section. Here you will find an episode-by-episode break-down of the arc, as produced in Japanese, with additional information covering the series’ international distribution, differences from the Japanese broadcast version, and much more.
Meaning FUNimation release will include 69 episodes. So the third and final volume will have 23 episode just like the first two sets.

To me it's less about pace and more about life.

291 Episodes is a tall order with a full time job.
