But the dialogue is more accurate in Kai. Anyone that read the Manga knows that IT'S OVER 8,000 (not 9,000 like in the original dub).
The best number is 73. Why? 73 is the 21st prime number. Its mirror, 37, is the 12th and its mirror, 21, is the product of multiplying 7 and 3... and in binary 73 is a palindrome, 1001001, which backwards is 1001001.
Films I'd like to see on Blu-Ray Disc:
Scarface (1932)
ABC Weekend Specials (1977Ė1995) [TV Movies]

I donít believe anyone that refuses to post a source, they just like spreading FUD.
If you're not part of the solution, youíre part of the precipitate.

Pretty sure that was fixed long before Kai.

In terms of the dub, Kai was actually the first time they changed it to (or kept it at) "over 8,000". Even the Nicktoons version of Kai changed it back to 9,000.

Kei17 posted a short clip from a raw scan of a 16mm broadcast print of DB episode #58 quite some time ago. A few years have passed and he has posted a new clip showing the stabilization and color correction he has done in the mean time. Looks pretty nice for what it is.

While it would be nice, but I mostly just want the original series on a U.S. Blu-ray release with the OAR and not DNR'd to death like DBZ.

I don't care though. Never read it, I have no concept of the purist form of it. Just what was on cartoon network lol

Wow, the quality of that Dragon Ball remaster was very nice. Hurts to know there is no planned HD remaster of the entire show.

So, the first Dragon Ball Movie is getting released... on iTunes...

Shame there’s no Blu-ray. I doubt it’s gonna happen, as DBZ is far more popular than OG Dragon Ball.

Is FUNimation planning to release this on Blu-ray? This is the very first time I saw this movie in HD before.

I just asked that about 10 minutes before you.

I honestly don’t know. They’re putting it on iTunes, and it’s already on FUNimation Now, apparently.

What I want to know is how did FUNimation get access to HD masters of Dragon Ball? Because last time I heard, they don't have film prints for it except for Dragon Ball Z. It's either FUNimation found a way to scan their source into HD, or Toei recently remastered it themselves. Meaning, there could be Blu-rays of the first Dragon Ball series and movies already released or coming out in Japan without a lot of us knowing.

Well, I remember reading how they got the 35mm prints of the movies only, did a 2K scan, and probably planned to release it, but because people didn’t buy the Level sets (due to the price), they most likely decided not to release it.

I think this was already discussed before by NLScavenger, maybe? I have the feeling that this was discussed here before.

That still really bugs me even to this day. I love the level sets and I still own them. The lever sets were best that Dragon Ball Z has ever looked.

Funi has acquired prints of DBZ TV and the DBZ movies through Toei. One can assume that they also acquired prints of the DB movies through them. All three DB movies and Path to Power have been remastered, but thus far Funi has relegated these movies to streaming services. No idea why they haven't released them on BD. Seems like they're leaving money on the table for no good reason.

The Funi in-house DB/DBZ movie remasters have been offered to international distributors such as Zima in Mexico, Selecta Vision in Spain and Yamato Video in Italy. The DB movies have thus far only seen a BD release in Latin America (dub only I believe) and they will be released later this in Italy as part of a BD boxset that will collect all DB/DBZ/GT Moves/Specials (minus BoG and RoF). The set also contains GT: A Hero's Legacy, which was also released on BD in Mexico, but nobody knows if it's an upscale or not.

Was about the Level sets, not the movies. Funi may be sitting on unreleased Level set quality episodes all the way up to the Android saga, which is really strange considering that the Level sets were supposedly cancelled because the restoration process was cost prohibitive and the lack of sales as you have mentioned.

Oh the Level Sets...I don't think I have ever seen a 90's anime restored so beautifully. </3
The dumbest character in cinematic history is not Jar Jar Binks. It's David Larrabee. I mean...who the hell overlooks Audrey Hepburn!?

I wish the 1-9 blu-ray DBZ sets had been released in the UK too. It's going to kill my bank account to import them, or even the 1-9 boxset.

We've only got the orange brick DVDs and Kai blu-rays over here. No way am I getting the orange bricks. And screw Kai!

The DBZ blu-rays are barely better than the orange bricks.
They are still awful from any real metric.

Kai is far from perfect, but it's the only real way of owning DBZ on home media in any affordable form. Well unless you want to sell a couple of kidneys for all the Japanese dvds.
