  • You can't order over 150€ because 88 Films is supposed to exclude UK VAT but doesn't.

I understand that they try to keep costs down, but how difficult can it be? They use Shopify, which seems to support both IOSS and local tax exclusion.
I wonder how much of this is caused by the local post. I’ve ordered dozens of titles from Eureka, 2 orders from 88-films and (cross fingers), no issue with IOSS
Well, I had an issue once the belgian post warned me that VAT must be payed, I contacted them and showed that the package was IOSS registered and that they made a mistake -every package is photographed upon arriving and the picture is send to the recipient so I was able to show them the IOSS logo on the package- and they cancelled the charges…

I tried this sort of thing in 2021, with no luck at all. Neither mail carrier nor customs will allow for any mistakes on their side here in Germany: A package is IOSS if the corresponding digital data record says it is, and if there is none, it is not IOSS, and thus subject to customs. They don't care about any IOSS logos on the package itself. That's why I registered as "Selbstverzoller" to handle customs declaration myself.

1, Gorgeous (100%)
2, Battle Creek Brawl (100%)

For the other 2 a safe bet would be the other 'Dude Designs' releases but I'm gonna go with wild speculation instead!
Their excellent new cover artist Sean Longmore had an Instagram story over Christmas of him watching 'First Strike'.
Like I said, wild speculation, he's obviously a fan but could be research.

For the last one I'll go wilder and say Drunken Master 2 after the cinema showing last year someone has the rights in the UK. Could just be another HMV Warner situation like Mr. Nice guy but who knows.

Oh how I'd love for First Strike to get a full bells and whistles release in 2023.

I imported Drunken Master 2 from the US so not too fussed by that personally (It's not a favourite of mine but I'd still support a UK release if it wasn't a straight port of the WAC version), so substitute that for Twin Dragons, just because.

I do hope we get some more JC, Sammo & Biao releases this year (from 88 Films or Eureka), on top of all the other kung fu goodness we are being blessed with.

Don't think there's many JC left apart from the 90's films which I imagine all the labels are fighting over if the licences are even available, a 4K Rush Hour Trilogy set from Eureka to match Police Story would be amazing!

I hope 88 films do more Stephen Chow, Fight Back To School is a guilty pleasure.
And one day someone will release an Aces Go Places boxset!

It is the same thing here in Denmark. When it comes to commercial shipments, the invoice means nothing. All that matters is the corresponding digital data for the package. If the data says the package has a certain value and has been entered in the IOSS system, then it is so. If there is no digital data confirming that it has been IOSS registered, then the customs will not accept it as such, no matter whether a label on the package says IOSS or not.

There's no point in a Rush Hour set considering a 4th one is in the works.

Maybe, but how is that different than the Police Story situation?

Rush Hour 4?! I didn't make it past 2!

Definitely for 'Jackie Chan on blu-ray' completists only.

Apart from The Foreigner and a couple of others, pretty much most 21st century Jackie films have been dire.

What about his 2nd Cat III film? Think I've seen it but can't remeber anything about it.

Would be nice if Shanghal Noon/Knights actually got a UK blu ray release so I could retire my Aussie set.
I also thought New Police Story was really good but may br in the minority.
Apart from that there's a few so-so films but yes most have been quite dire.

Yeah I thought New Police Story was decent, some great stunts.

Is the 88 Films U.S. release for Police Story 3 still set for March 2023?

Yes, where IS Chow on bluray? Last year on Netflix, I saw almost a dozen of his films on HD. Fully expected/hoped they would materialize into BD, but nothing so far other than Forbidden City Cop. I can easily see box sets of his work..

Aces go Places set, also, yes..

And where are those wonderful Tartan Extreme Asian horror films? They are still only available on DVD!

I had to dig up my Tartan collection to see and a fair few have made it to blu ray but a good number were Korean which at the moment is more Eureka/Arrow territory. I can quite easily see Eureka putting out Breaking News, Fulltime Killer and Gozu at some point.
I think 88 Films would be a good fit for the weird horror ones (Three Extremes, Whispering Corridors & R-Point).

Into the Mirror was quite good. Viewing spoilt by a muddy NTSC to PAL transfer

And Save the Green Planet is excellent.

Also Shiri, The Heroic Duo, and Phone could do with UK blu-ray releases.

I barely made it through the first one.

For that matter, you can take all of Jackie's English language films and trash them as far as I'm concerned. I don't think there's been one that I didn't find difficult to watch, and certainly none I'd care to see again.

They could include the "Mad Mission" edits as extras. Those have quite a lot of extra footage, and are very different edits.

I also have a sale order, that was split in 3 parts. Everything arrived, except "The Iceman Cometh", which was stuck with the "We're expecting it" status since the 15th of December.
So today the status changed to "In Transit".
