But they added £2 postage at checkout so I shall stick with Amazon.
Their site only mentions that Zombie Flesh Eaters 2 has free postage when ordered as a pre-order.

Their loss. I'll stick with Amazon

Why should it? You missread it wrong. No-one's fault but your own.

Why offer free postage on only one title?
It should be free for all pre-orders then it would be worth ordering direct.
They are the ones who's website requests buyers to order direct because they make more money from it but unless there's an incentive why would I?

The fact that many of their titles turn up in HMV stores 40% less than the website price also isn't an incentive.

But regardless of your viewpoint , it's still their loss.
I can't believe that this has to be spelled out, but your incentive for buying direct is that they make more money and are thus able to release more titles.

Arrow have the right idea. No postage and reward points to encourage me to place my order with them next time.

If I was interested in everything 88films were releasing then perhaps I might feel I was doing my duty to buy direct.
But I'm not so I don't.

As with the majority of people , price is king and with no HMV around here I won't be shelling out £14.99 for anything when it's available from HMV for £6 less which is why I waited until The Bogeyman was £8.99 on Amazon.

I was interested in the 88films multi packs but even those still work out considerably more than HMV prices
88 films are tiny compared to Arrow

Maybe if they didn't they would get bigger and encourage people to buy from their site.

I don't have an HMV within 15 miles but on principle I won't pay £14.99 for something HMV sell for £8.99 and I doubt I'm alone in that.
Do you even know how it works between shops and distributors/editors ? Obviously not

Like the majority all I care about is the price I have to pay.

Why would how it works between shops and distributors make the slightest difference to me? It's irrelevant.
All I see are titles offered £6 cheaper in the High Street than in their online store. Something I don't see from any other studio anywhere.
HMV are making hardly anything when they sell them at such a price, and to be able to sell at such a price, they have to buy a large volume.

I'll let you work the rest out.

Exactly. It's already been discussed about the HMV prices. 88's hands are tied with regard to how much HMV charge for their titkes, due to the fact that it's the only way they'll stock 88's releases. They'd love nothing more than HMV to sell them for the same prices they do other companies releases, like Arrow for example. So people shouldn't think for a second that 88 are over the moon that their discs sell for £8.99

I would really like to support 88 Films direct, as there are a lot of their titles I'm interested in. But as others have said, cheaper prices from other retailers is hard to turn down, especially when the money saved can go towards purchasing an additional title. I personally wouldn't mind the price difference so much if it was only a few pounds extra, but £5-6 more than the competition with an additional £2 postage charge is a little steep (for many people I imagine) who are on a budget.

Additional incentives could help sweeten the deal I suppose, as others have mentioned, free postage on all pre-orders or maybe a few flash sales every now and then(?), could really push people towards buying direct.

That said, I picked up Two Moon Junction from their site, which worked out to be £8 cheaper than Amazon and £3 cheaper than the next cheapest online price from Base.com. If only a lot more of their titles were slightly more competitively priced (I'm not expecting it to be cheaper than other retailers, but like I mentioned before, a few pounds extra would be alright).

Re Arrow's titles, I order from them exclusively for goodwill and to encourage them to dig deeper on their growing range of obscure genre titles. Price differences even out with their occasional sales. I'd prefer to pay a couple bucks more and have Arrow remain active for the next 10 years than stiff them each release for a couple of bucks from elsewhere.

I wonder what there new slasher is, any guesses? I'm wanting Aerobicide, Fatal Games, Hide and go Shreik, Final Exam, The Burning, The Dorm That Dripped Blood and House On Sorority Row. I want films that are strictly slasher films, I wouldn't really call Mothers Day a slasher or Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers for that matter. Ideally any slasher with a killer.

Odds are it'll be Nightmare or Intruder, the second being more likely

They were originally slated to release Intruder back in 2013, I don't recollect what the issues/delays were.

Edit: From the second page of this thread:

Edit: Just found what the 88Films guy said on Cult Labs:

Quote:
Intruder is still a title we have planned for release but it has been delayed indefinitely because we couldn't come to an agreement with the company that own the new master and extras. Obviously we wouldn't want to release it with an older transfer.

I'm sure we'll sort something out soon though so we can get Intruder out on Blu-ray over here.

If we knew for definite that there was going to be enough support to make it worthwhile then we could always look into making it happen sooner.

I'm really hoping 88 films can release some more slasher films that haven't had any previous DVD or Blu Ray releases. I'm really hoping for Death Screams a.k.a. House of Death, The Prey, or any others on my list.
