3. Queen's Corgi
4. Aladdin
5. Spiderman: Far From Home
6. Abominable
7. How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World
8. Dumbo
9. Aquaman
10. Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse
11. Toy Story 4
12. Captain Marvel

My ratings are based both on the quality of the story and the 3D. All of these movies I thought were at least good so I'm not saying the lower ranked ones were bad or had bad 3d.

Any top 10 3D list for 2019 without endgame is out of touch.

Thanks for sharing. I really want to see Abominable, have pre-ordered the German release. I was very pleasantly surprised by the 3D in Toy Story 4.

1. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
Blown away at the layers of 3D in this transfer. The lines are on a layer, the dots are on a different layer, the thought bubbles are on a different layer. My favorite 3D movie of the year by miles.

2. Captain Marvel
I didn't really enjoy the movie but the strong 3D is reference quality.

3. Endgame
Strong 3D. Marvel are the kings of 3D at this moment in time.

4. Alita
Nice depth but to be honest, I preferred the 4K.

5. Spider-Man: Far From Home
Medium 3D. I felt they could have pushed the 3D more. I compare this with Captain Marvel and there are a night and day differences between the two.

My preferred way to watch My top 3 is 3D. 4 and below I could just as easily watch in 4K and not feel like I'm missing out on anything.

Other mentions
Ralph Breaks the Internet. Good but not great 3D.

I'll repeat myself, I only listed movies where I really enjoyed both the movie and the 3D. If I thought the movie was average (like Endgame) then I didn't put it on my personal list of favourite 3D blu rays released in 2019. I see a lot of complaining about other people's personal opinions but I don't see those complainers offering up their own lists.

Great list, thanks for sharing. The Alita one is especially interesting as I read a lot of criticism, or should I say disappointment regarding the 4K. That movie overall was a missed opportunity on disc though as it didn't include the IMAX.

I definitely need to rewatch Spiderverse in 3D. I really didn't like the movie though so I'd probably struggle to get through it a second time.

I’m wondering if we’re even going to get 10 3D Blu Ray releases in 2020. The next time we do top 10 lists they all might be the same by default

That is a possibility, but I assume we will still order them differently. Here's mine:
  1. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Fantastic movie and 3D
  2. Avengers: Endgame What can I say that hasn't been said?
  3. Alita: Battle Angel. Young Adult but a fresh look and good 3D, especially IMAX which we unfortunately won't get to see anymore
  4. Mortal Engines. Another gorgeous movie with a unique world
  5. Aquaman. A DC twist on the legend of King Arthur
  6. Captain Marvel. Solid movie but points subtracted for Samuel Jackson and a not attractive enough star
  7. Venom Dumb fun and good 3D
  8. The Lion King Another solid from Disney
  9. Aladdin Naomi Scott, yum.
  10. How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World Gorgeous movie, lame story

Honorable mentions:
  • Jivaro If we were judging 3D only, this would rank in the top ten
  • 3D Nudie Cuties Same as Jivaro
  • The Grinch
  • Fast & Furious: Hobbs and Shaw First action movie where I fell asleep
  • Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse
  • Pokémon: Detective Pikachu
  • Dumbo Too PC for me
  • Spiderman: Far From HomeToo PC for me

Did not see:
The Secret Life of Pets 2
Toy Story 4

Spider-Verse was one of my favorite movies of the year but that has nothing to do with the 3D. When I watch a 3D I want the 3D to be immersive or what's the point you may as well watch in 2D.

Spider-Verse is doing fantastic things with 3D. My only criticism is they have some things in the background that remain blurred even in 3D. To me, that's a mistake. You can do creative things but what you watch should be in focus otherwise the viewer will think something is wrong.

My rule of thumb now is if the 3D version of the movie doesn't blow the 2D version out of the water then return it and get it in 4K. Spider-Verse blows the 2D out of the water.

I did think the 3D in Spider-Verse was really wonderful, by far the best thing about the movie for me.

I will always buy the 3D version of any movie, and on occasion i will double dip for the 4K, depending on how much i like the movie. I did this recently with Hobbs and Shaw for example.

I double-dip 3D and 4K for Marvel movies as I see myself watching them repeatedly. For everything else, I need strong reference-quality 3D.

Default Best 3D Blu-ray of 2019

I've added a poll hopefully including all the major movies released last year on 3D Blu-ray, apologies for the delay. Shorts, documentaries and theatrical or digital-only releases are not included, as are releases still not out everywhere, like Abominable - these will be on next year's list...

If the poll allowed multiple entries I'd probably vote for at least 15 of those listed, so that's why it's restricted to just one. If you don't want to be restricted to picking just one, post a list as well - I may well edit my choices as I catch up on the ones I haven't seen but at the moment it has to be (in no particular order):

Native/animated:
Parasite
Adam and 6 Eves
Jivaro
Alita: Battle Angel
The Queen's Corgi
Ralph Breaks the Internet

Conversions:
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald (didn't like the movie, but great conversion)
Avengers Endgame
Captain Marvel
Aladdin
Dumbo
Aquaman
Spider-Man: Far From Home
Mortal Engines

Most disappointing (but still infinitely better than the 2D versions):
The LEGO Movie 2
Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse
Venom
Shazam!

...and a special mention for Prototype, which is the only 3D movie that's ever made me feel unwell.

Always hard for me to pick one. I liked a lot of movies this year. I went with Avengers Endgame as apart from being great 3D, and a great movie, it's the only 2019 release I've watched twice since I bought it.
