The 1994 Santa Clause just showed up in 4K on Movies Anywhere and Vudu the other day, so it'll likely be made available on Disney+ in the US and not on disc, but we will have to wait a bit to confirm as what is in the Netherlands may differ from the US.

I wonder if they will release The Santa Clause on 4K sometime around Christmas. It is, after all, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. I know there hasn't been a press release, but that doesn't mean much these days. Monster's 25th anniversary is this year and they just announced the box set and deluxe edition last week. And it's coming out in November. The time between "press releases" and physical release are shrinking more and more these days. I think that is due to the whole "surprise album" phenomenon that started years ago. You almost never see much in the way of promotion or anything (press release included) when artists release their new album. What is usually done is done like a month or so before. If that. Times have changed for physical media and how it's promoted dramatically.

Are there other Disney titles like this, available digitally and not on disc? I can add those to a separate list.

Itís worth it to buy it on vudu, if you care about the 1800-spankme line, that is. Hdx only but after that just convert it back to 4k!

I don't buy any movies online that are downloaded or digital unless it's "special interest" movies. And even then I only do that when it's 4k quality or something high def that I can't get on disc.

Newer movies are easier to knock out.

I could see them doing Princess Diaries 1 on 4K, MAYBE, but 2 was a glorified DCOM written by Shonda Rhimes and I'm surprised anybody involved came back for it. They're probably both unlikely for 4K since Disney released them as a 2 movie collection and didn't bother with individual releases.

Disney could be waiting for The Rocketeer on 4K when the Disney Junior show premieres sometime this year?

Being more recent, perhaps they already had higher quality masters and didn't have to go through a lot of effort with restoration, etc, for the 4K version. Maybe just a relatively simple upconvert? I certainly don't see Disney expending any effort converting those two to 4K.
