is the second 4k restoration of the evil dead the newer one from grindhouse going to digital and uhd with hdr and dolby vision?

Probably not, since this was done by Renaissance Pictures and not StudioCanal/Lionsgate. It would be great if it could, but I just don't see it happening unless there are rights changes that shift full control back to RP.

As far as I know, Sony fielded the 2009 4K restoration (the source for the current UHD BD), not StudioCanal/Lionsgate. Heck, Lionsgate didn't even own Starz/Anchor Bay when the first home video releases based on this work came out. I'm going from memory here and can't quickly find anything to confirm, but I thought that Renaissance bought out the remaining investors and own the original Evil Dead outright.

So there’s another restoration of Evil Dead out there?

It always bugged me that some of the more infamous goofs were digitally erased for the blu-ray. Those mistakes, glaring though they may be, add to the charm of the film. Did the other restoration leave them in?
