Default Fellow Canadians!! Where to buy?

Hey, after buying my Pioneer Reciever (1018), I need some speakers to go with it! I can't do 7.1 because of my room, 5.1 is sufficient, plus better for me $ wise.

Where do you guys buy your speakers, like where is the cheap places. I ask Canadians because well I am, and because I see all the deals on newegg, and other sites, but I can't find any that are either A) Canadian, or B) ship to Canada.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

By the way, I am looking to get a simple surround sound package, so the 5 speakers with the woofer.

So what are you looking to spend and do you have a preference in speaker company? Or have you been anywhere to have a listen?

Well as I have seen I was thinking the Polk 6750, but the only place I can find it is Futureshop for $500+. I am not spending $500 on 6750's, when I know I can get them cheaper.

My budget is really quite low, thus I am searching for the "deals". This might mean it may take a while, but since I don't need them right away I don't mind waiting.

There were a few deals for Polk's at Futureshop for around $250-$300, but they were already sold out when I tried to buy them.

Also, if my Receiver is 130 Watt's per channel, if I get a sub with like 650 Watt (I am not going to), is all that power gone to waste? Say if I were to get 150 Watt, I couldn't fully utilize it or? Thanks.

2001 Audio Visual has a sale starting today, they have a small flyer on their website, but just have speaker sets shown might have better luck in store.

Audiotronics is another one, not sure of their locations but there is one by me. They carry a lot of different companies at reasonable prices. Last time I was in there they had a real nice 5.1 Paradigm set up.

You most likely won't find the same kind of deals here in Canada as you see on US websites, especially when it comes to electronics.

And you will want a powered sub, one you plug into the wall.

I found these at Visions. I am thinking for $148 this is an excellent deal and I should jump on it. $148 for the pair of M20's. Those with say this, is all I need right now.

Try some real audio stores they may have discontinued lines or old stock they want to get rid of. Get a couple of half decent fronts and center and work from there.
How much music do you listen too and how many movies do you watch?

GET PSB speakers. Canadian designed and very inexpensive... the Alpha series 5.1 setup is SPECTACULAR for the price.

This website is fantastic for Canadians, no reason to be scared of used equipment, you can get much higher quality gear.
