Default Leawo Bluray player

Hello there.
I was wondering if anyone here uses this player.
I find it a great free player that removes the regions from Blurays, BUT i have a problem.
The playback isn't smooth. It skips frames.

I could buy AnyDVD which would suit my needs, but unfortunately it's too expensive for my pocker right now.

So, does anyone know what I should do to solve this playback problem?
Maybe I should tick some certain options?
(although i did try different combinations)

edit: I think the problem may be that I have 3GB RAM and an old processor and the player doesn't show nvidia cuda as an option to use in harware acceleration.

I found here:

Quote:
Great Blu-Ray player but could use Intel Quick-Sync or Nvidia CUDA to reduce CPU usage during playback, also it would be great to reduce loading time of the software."

I use Leawo. It's very good software. I've downloaded many BD media players and Leawo is the only one that's completely free, region free and virus free. The virtual remote can be kinda wonky, but all things considered it's not that bad.

Leawo works perfectly for me, but only on my 2016 Acer PC.

On my really old HP laptop, it doesn't work very well.

I'm trying to play a Blu-ray disc in Leawo and I can't get passed the menu. I tried clicking and pressing enter but nothing works. All I can really do is play and pause the menu screen with the mouse. Anyone know why this is? Do some discs not work with Leawo?

you have to use a keyboard to navigate the menus, mouse won't work

I guess it doesnít work with some Blu-rays. It played one of mine fine but on another I can only play and pause the menu screen. Canít tab or arrow over to anything else.

At the start of the disc/warning screen, you'd have to pause it, hit the playlist button at the bottom left and choose any title you want to play and there ya go.

Also note this problem occurs on 1080i discs and content at varying degrees of lag and sometimes program crashes.

I find this bug quite annoying and until they hopefully address it in the next release, this workaround would have to do if you don't mind not seeing bumpers and menus.

Thank you! I never would’ve figured that out. I noticed that the audio is messed up though. I tried three different discs that would only play using your method and the audio cuts in and out and just sounds strange.

I find Leawo to be a bit buggy in terms of functionality, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Like it's tendency to just play whatever is the first index on the disc - which might not necessarily be the main menu. The discs I've tried, I can't even find the menu in most of them so in order to actually watch them I have to just look at the thumbnails on the index list and hope I'm picking the right one.

I just discovered it today and tested it out a bit.

Pros: I find that it's able to play newer BDs that my BDP-S1 and CyberLink PowerDVD 9 (which came free with my PC's BD drive) cannot. Was able to play my newest Blu-rays. Also, thanks to the Playlist window, you can skip all the annoying piracy warnings and trailers at the start. All in all, pretty impressive for something that's free.

Cons: However, audio ouput through 3.5mm jack is very stuttery and laggy. Haven't tested it out with TOSLINK; maybe that'll work better. Playback itself is a bit stuttery at first, but progressively gets better as you watch. Also, can't seem to be able to play a BD with external subtitles for some reason, the option is grayed out. On the other hand, VLC can play BDs with external subtitles, though like CyberLink PowerDVD 9, it has a hard time playing some BDs.

I'm using an LG BH12LS35 and GTX 560 Ti outputting video through DVI. Both are pretty old hardware, so I wonder if that has anything to do with the aforementioned issues. I had a GTX 680 but it died a few weeks ago after 6 years of use.

So I tried this out, and aside from some minor bugs during operation (when it crashes, it erases your settings and requires you to remember them and reset) and the occasional spazzing on 1080i content and menus, works pretty well as an alternative to VLC (which is a massive PTA to get it to play BDs with the db config files, yet it won't play the newest ones when you do everything right).

Also, Leawo BD Player can (AFAIK) let you change the BD regions as many times as you want compared to CyberLink PowerDVD. As of current, I give this program a 3.8/5, though hopefully with the next version they fix the occasional lag ans spazzing during navigation.

Have you updated to the latest version of the software? IDK if you've been using an older version for a few months, but if so it would be a good idea to update it anyway.

Did the audio cut in/out when you play those discs before trying my method? In the players audio settings, are you outputting the audio through "Analog" (if using headphones) or "Coax" (usually routes audio through HDMI to enable multi channel). Some titles can act very strange with their audio tracks depending on a whole bunch of factors and the disc itself.

Could you elaborate on the titles in question and distributor/region? Leawo is very skitzy with 1080i content, but it's also problematic with older BD titles (mainly Universal and Fox titles with BD+ including some released before 2016) and a few region locked ones (example being German Concorde BDs like Austin Powers that can freeze at random parts) even after changing the players region setting.

I just updated the player from 1.9.6 to 1.9.7 but I'm still having the audio issues.

For the audio settings it was set to analog and I was listening with my earphones. My Blu-rays are region A or region free. I tried playing some of the Halloween movies from the Anchor Bay Collection, Alien 3 from the Anthology box set, which is 20th Century Fox, and the region free UK disc of Dances with Wolves, which is MGM.

I realized though that all these discs are giving me audio problems, whereas before I remember there wasn't an audio problem with the ones that I was able to play. So it seems that my issue has nothing to do with watching the film by selecting the playlist option, but some other problem that's affecting every Blu-ray I try to play using it. There's no problem with my computer I think because I can listen to music and watch videos just fine. I also noticed that some discs don't play at all. For instance, when I inserted my Friday the 13th disc, which is from Paramount, it wouldn't play at all and the loading wheel just kept spinning.

As mentioned, older MGM and Fox BDs can be very problematic due to wonky BD+ things that even some rippers have issues with. With your Paramount Friday the 13th disc, have you tried hitting the playlist before or during the loading screen bit?

I tried it after loading the disc because it seemed that there was nothing in the playlist until I had the disc load. And then when it was trying to load it showed the playlist but everything was grayed out and not clickable, probably because the program was freezing. Maybe I need to let the disc sit for awhile and not load it, and see if the playlist eventually shows the contents of the disc.

I tried Leawo Blu-ray Player and have two issues with it.
1. I can't get the match refresh rate to video feature to work (I'm using a TV capable of 24Hz).
2. This app won't launch in fullscreen mode.

1: try setting your PC's display to 24hz and see if i'll work now.

2: Is your PC HDCP complaiant through HDMI alongside the monitor? If you're going HDMI to DVI with a non HDMI PC monitor, it won't display properly in 1080p (or sometimes at all) to HDCP handshake issues.

My PC is connected to my TV, that is HDCP and has 24Hz support. I'm using an HDMI cable. The video card inside my PC is a GTX 1080 ti. Also I should not have to set my PC's display's refresh rate to 24Hz manually as this feature in Leawo Blu-ray Player is suppose to switch the refresh rate automatically if the movie is encoded with that frame rate.

Is your TV the only display your PC is outputting to?
